According to permits filed by Disney with the South Florida Water Management District, there is a 2 acre expansion of Typhoon Lagoon water park on the way…

Typhoon Expansion

According to the document, the plans include “construction of new guest areas, including a water feature. Sidewalks and landscaped areas will be provided for guest access.” The main attraction in the new area is highlighted as “a new family raft ride that is to be located west of the Crush N Gusher ride.” The ride would take place in an elevated flume/track. The graphic below shows the ride area in green overlaid on an aerial view of Typhoon Lagoon.  The ride itself will be located to the west of Crush N Gusher, and a lot of the associated walkways will occupy the current sandy area near the exit pool from Crush N Gusher.

Disney has not announced this project yet, but filing these permits is the first step in the construction process.

    • It’s a permit publicly filed, you may want to also take this up with the Sentinel and Orlando Business Journal, “real” journalists who only credit the actual permit since it is public record. We find plenty of stories like this and get no credit since it is information that can be found easily with some effort, I don’t chase them down for stealing the story.

      • You shouldn’t worry about how the sentinel or OBJ handle their crediting- as they aren’t you. And how do you know I didn’t mention anything to them?
Sorry when people take any of your stories as your own. If that feeling sucks, then at least you know how they feel when you take ones like this. And let’s be honest- you didn’t find this one on your own- you did steal it. Saying how one can find a permit doesn’t mean one searched.

And note- there are permits files daily- very few, if any, other people rifle through them to find pertinent ones like Danlb does. That’s why I said to give him credit- the guy works hard at that stuff for no benefit of his own. So I enjoy reading your breaking news, as well as his.

      • Pretty salty response…. No need for this – both sites provide great information everyday and fans are grateful for both… Chill out bro we all love Disney here !

        • I take this very seriously, plagiarism is a fairly harsh claim. There have been many photos and stories that originated at this site that WDWMagic refused to credit so we don’t really appreciate Magic readers attacking us for such a thing, especially when this wasn’t “stolen”, it’s a public document available to anyone in the world online.

          • Just an FYI …. I’m not saying you shouldn’t take it seriously, I understand there might be some competition with this stuff but honestly we shouldn’t feed the negative readers… If they wanna post dumb things then so be it. If your not in the wrong you don’t have to defend yourself.

With regards to the topic of people constantly posting negative comments – you should go look at the Micechat weekly updates , those readers are vicious and never seem to be happy with anything week after week!

Tom, I love this site, ever since I found it about a year ago I check it multiple times every day for updates!

    • So, when it comes to permits, press releases or anything accessible to anyone, you have to realize it is a race to post. Just because one site posts it first, it doesn’t mean they get credit or it is their story. Same thing happened several weeks ago with the Studios road permits, we had them up before most sites, but I did not hunt down sites for posting it after we did. It’s readily available, I can’t be mad at other people for finding it. I apologize if you think this story was stolen, but the Sentinel and Orlando Business Journal also posted the story with only credit to the permits, as the permits are public record and the actual source.

  • Tom you don’t have to apologize for nothing. You give us good information first .there are always going to be haters and negative people out there. I never seen so many negative people until you post a positive story.we the positive people love what you do keep it up. Thanks for all you do.

  • Question…..if you guys hate Tom and WDWNT so much that you have negative comments on any “Breaking” post why do you come here? What Tom is talking about is Journalism 101. Public records are just that, public records. So if he writes a post based on that public information then all he needs to site is the South Florida Water Management District for publishing the information. To those that read many Disney sites, why don’t you attack WDWMagic for stealing WDWNT info? Oh that’s right WDWMagic has a filter to block anytime you type WDWNT or in any form it can be written. When someone does find a new way to type WDWNT to site them as a source on that website a moderator comes and deletes the post. Something like that is glaringly obvious and shameful.

    • As the first person who commented about it- I never mentioned wdwMagic once. They didn’t break the story- a forum member by the name Danlb did. And in fact, he breaks almost every single permit related story out there. I just know of a couple other sites that aren’t wdwMagic- that credited him, and thought it would be courteous to do the same- all it takes is a small mention at the bottom.
I follow several sites- no hate to anyone on my end.

      • As he is a forum member of that site and he posted it there, if Tom were to site him how would he not site him as a member of that site or forum? While you did not mention that site, the second poster did. Tom said he doesn’t follow the guy on twitter nor does he check their site. He said someone texted him about a permit and he went and checked the SFWMD site for himself and wrote a story. You can choose to believe him and his story or not. If not, I’d suggest you stay away from WDWNT as you don’t trust the source. If other sites got their info from that guys post then by all rights, they should credit him because they did not do their job as a journalist. As that is not the case here, there is no reason to credit someone.

Permit related stories are stories on public records and any journalist(or average person) is perfectly capable of finding that on their own without going to another websites forum or someones twitter account.

Read the websites you want to read and if you want to be mad because you think someone is not giving credit to another website that is your prerogative. You are assuming that Tom got this from that guy and he didn’t.

        • “As he is a forum member of that site and he posted it there, if Tom were to site him how would he not site him as a member of that site or forum?”
While wdwthemeparks did mention wdwmagic after crediting dnalb http://www.wdwthemeparks.com/news/2016/06/08/new-family-raft-ride-coming-to-typhoon-lagoon
Although Blog Mickey found a way to do it without mentioning wdwmagic. http://blogmickey.com/2016/06/permits-filed-family-raft-ride-typhoon-lagoon/
Its just odd that some blogs source their credits and some don’t.

“Tom said he doesn’t follow the guy on twitter nor does he check their site. He said someone texted him about a permit and he went and checked the SFWMD site for himself and wrote a story. You can choose to believe him and his story or not”
If that’s his story- sure, I have no reason to think he’s a liar. Of course, he never mentioned that anywhere that I can see in these comments- but maybe you emailed him?

“Permit related stories are stories on public records and any journalist(or average person) is perfectly capable of finding that on their own without going to another websites forum or someones twitter account.”
Of course- if you know what to look for when something gets published. You can find anything in 5 minutes if you know what specifically you’re looking for- i.e.- someone says “A new typhoon lagoon raft ride permit was filed”. But thats different than looking at them all and finding which are pertinent and which aren’t blindly like dnalb does.
