Disney Announces New Restaurants and Pool Enhancements for Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

The Disney Vacation Club accommodations formerly known as The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have assumed a new name – Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, but this is just the beginning of the changes at the resort as the cabins outside of the main lodge are erected.

A sweeping re-imagination of the former Hidden Springs Pool is also underway. Depicted in the artist rendering below and scheduled to open in summer 2017, Boulder Ridge Cove will feature an expanded sun deck and zero-depth-entry pool in what appears to have been an abandoned rock quarry.

A nearby “Boulder Ridge Railway and Mining Co.” water tower will be among the pool area’s landmark reminders of its pioneering past, while a vintage mine cart supports the mining theme with an affectionate nod to Disney history.

Beyond the new pool space, scheduled enhancements to the resort are “chugging along” and include a brand-new bar & grill, in addition to a quick-service restaurant. Geyser Point Bar & Grill will be located in the heart of the feature pool area of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, where guests can grab a bite to eat as they lounge by the resort’s main pool. The rendering for this area highlights ample outdoor seating and architecture that looks right at home with that of the existing Lodge, as well as Boulder Ridge Villas.

This looks more like the Saratoga Springs pool than a Wilderness Lodge pool.
The big question though is Will it have bubblers in the pool?

Just two days after Obama moves to block mining near yellowstone disney announces plans to build a quarry and then abandon it in their version of yellowstone.

Every child’s dream of frolicking about post-industrial wasteland borne out of unrestricted exploitation of natural resources will come true.

Trump’s shortlist to run the Interior Department strictly includes oil drilling advocates from western states who favor easier development of public lands……so maybe Disney is just conditoning children for the future of the national parks

We stayed for a couple days and stayed in the villas that faced the construction. It was nice that it wasn’t loud at all. The bathing house forms and plumbing were in. The restaurant / bar walls were all installed as well as the roof shingling. Pool forms were being formed and poured so you could actually see the shape of the pool taking shape. Thank goodness it is much bigger than the old Hidden Springs pool because it was always packed when we visited.

The bungalow depending on where they were in line were coming along. Some just metal shells while others have walls and a roof already. I wonder if the bungalows will mimic the same layout of the Polynesian bungalows or be slightly different.

I can’t wait to see the points required for the bungalows and when DVC members can start reserving them.
