For the first time in a long time, we visit the Disneyland Resort to see the latest happenings, from the closure of Paradise Pier, to the onslaught of refurbishments elsewhere around the resort. Let’s take a look…
Welcome to Disneyland Resort!
Parking on the first floor of the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure is closed right now to accommodate construction of the new parking garage next door.
Splitsville will be opening any day now as final work on the facade is completed.
Disney California Adventure
It was raining, but stunningly, people still went to the parks.
The Festival of the Holidays is over and the booths have been removed, but they’ll be redressed and return for the Food and Wine Festival in early March.
Paving Over Paradise Pier
Paradise Pier closed on Sunday and Monday the construction walls went up in the area for the conversion to PIXAR Pier. The work causes the circle that was Paradise Pier to now be a horseshoe shape, which will probably get annoying for guests wanting to get from Toy Story Mania to attractions on the other side.
King Triton’s Carousel remains open, with Disney yet to set a date for its Toy Story conversion.
To the right, guests can access what will now be Paradise Park, a “new” land.
The wait time for Toy Story Mania is being posted at the foot of the bridge, so guest can decide if they will ride it before they head all the way down to this dead end.
Paradise Pier is history, with Ariel’s Grotto, Cove Bar, Treasures in Paradise, Paradise Pier Ice Cream Co., California Screamin’, the Games of the Boardwalk, and Mickey’s Fun Wheel all now closed for conversion.
It’s hard to tell if it is closed or if it’s 2001…
The maze of construction walls is reminiscent of California Adventure during its expansion from 2007-2012.
Scaffolding is already going up around California Screamin’ as it prepares to become the Incredicoaster.
Welcome back walls, we missed you. Shout out to the EPCOT Center sweatshirt making a cameo…
The restrooms are still open.
Goodbye California Screamin’…
You can relive California Screamin’ anytime in our video of the attraction:
The Cove Bar will be back with a PIXAR theme. It had 5+ hour waits on its final day of operation.
“We miss you already!”
Silly Symphony Swings leads to a dead end.
This and That
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is closed for refurbishment as well.
So is Grizzly River Run for its annual refurbishment (as you can see through the blur).
Moving over to Disneyland, Splash Mountain is closed for refurbishment. Is anything open?
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is closed to add a covered queue and for a general repainting.
Hopefully the next time we visit, things will be open…
