“Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” Stage Show Ending February 22 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

With Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance now boarding guests and all phases of Galaxy’s Edge now open, it seems that Star Wars presence throughout the rest of Disney’s Hollywood Studios will slowly begin to diminish. Disney has confirmed that the “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” show will be ending its long run soon, and now we know exactly when the show will go dark.

The final showing of “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” is scheduled to take place at 5:30 PM on February 22, 2020.

The entertainment calendar shows no additional performance times for the stage show. (Previously, show times were still showing performances through March 14, but entertainment calendars are prone to change.)

With the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway on March 4, it’s ideal to have the area in front of the Chinese Theatre cleared for any potential crowds.

Since 2016, the stage show has showcased Star Wars characters, movies, and music, with updates added throughout the years to introduce new characters, like Rey, in 2017. On July 6, 2019, the show’s companion “parade” element, the March of the First Order with Captain Phasma, concluded in preparation for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. Disney claimed that the First Order was “redeploying their troops to patrol Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.”

Kylo Ren has been out maintaining order in Batuu.

With the presence of Star Wars diminished throughout the rest of the park, there is hope that additional entertainment offerings will be added to Galaxy’s Edge, like the roaming droids that have been on the backburner since the land opened, or even additional roaming characters and extended stage shows. (Currently, Kylo Ren makes a few appearances throughout the day to briefly force choke a First Order officer, but that’s about it.)

What do you think of the conclusion of “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away”? Let us know in the comments.

  1. After A Galaxy far far away ends, hopefully it will bring back the character dance party in front of the Chinese theatre because It was used to have a character dance party in front of the Chinese theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios back in early 2010s.

  2. Disney went way overboard with the Star Wars immersion. Never having been a star wars fan I missed the point.

  3. I wish they’d bring back the Hyperspace Hooplah stage show they used to have during Star Wars weekends long ago. Those were funny, but maybe it’s not taken seriously enough (or it’s too goofy) to be in a stage show in Galaxy’s Edge. But if it DID come back, they could employ the Boogie Storm group of dancing Stormtroopers who’ve been on the latest season of America’s Got Talent: Champions (and before that, Britain’s Got Talent). Not at the expense of losing more character meet’n’greets, though.
