After its standard annual refurbishment, Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is back open.
Kali River Rapids Reopens
According to the My Disney Experience app, the ride was open on the morning of Friday, March 15, 2024, as scheduled. At about 10:00 a.m., it had a 15-minute standby wait time.
Kali River Rapids was closed for refurbishment beginning on January 8. Disney announced it would reopen in mid-March and the Walt Disney World website later indicated it would reopen on March 15.
The whitewater river ride is in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It first opened almost a year after the rest of the park, on March 18, 1999, and was inspired by the Chakranadi River in Karnataka, India. The height requirement is 38 inches / 97 centimeters. It offers a rider switch option and has lockers at the entrance for guests to store items they don’t want to get wet.
