VIDEO: Splash Mountain Removed, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Added to Disneyland Railroad Narration

Now that Splash Mountain has permanently closed at Disneyland, the attraction has been removed from the Disneyland Railroad narration. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will replace Splash Mountain, is now mentioned.

Updated Disneyland Railroad Narration

Disneyland Railroad takes guests directly through Splash Mountain. It used to feature a glimpse of the scene featuring animals singing “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” on a riverboat, but this is now blocked from view.

The Disneyland Railroad narration was last updated in 2017, when the attraction was closed during construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The narration, provided by Bob Joles, included these lines about Splash Mountain:

We’re now entering Splash Mountain, rumored to be the location of the one and only Laughin’ Place. If you look real hard, you just might find it. It’s where critters are celebrating a “zip-a-dee-doo-dah” day. Speaking of critters, this place we’re passing over is home to a whole bunch of them.

Listen to the old narration in our 2020 video of the Disneyland Railroad.

For the updated narration, we have the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure spiel included in our video below.

This is what the new narration says:

We’re now entering the bayou, soon to be home to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Princess Tiana swears there’s magic out here, and wherever there’s magic, there’s bound to be surprises. Blue skies and sunshine guaranteed. Speaking of surprises, this place we’re passing over is chock full of them.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure signs are on the construction walls around Splash Mountain.

Splash Mountain & Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Splash Mountain at Disneyland

The original Splash Mountain first opened at Disneyland in July 1989. The attraction closed permanently on May 30 to be transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is expected to open in 2024.

Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom closed in January and construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is well underway. Splash Mountain is set to remain as-is at Tokyo Disneyland, where it opened in 1992.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes place after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.” Tiana’s Foods is an employee-owned community food co-op established by Tiana in 1927, following the success of her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. The co-op is housed inside a salt mine, with growers planting crops along the old Splash Mountain waterway. Guests will ascend through a mill house built into the side of the mountain.

Tiana’s Palace will replace the French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square. Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets, a shop featuring “The Princess and the Frog” merchandise as well as New Orleans-related items, is already open.

The Splash Mountain landscaping will be updated to make it look more like a Louisiana bayou. The iconic tree that was included in the original concept art will be also removed as it doesn’t fit the new backstory.

This re-envisioned attraction will follow Tiana venturing into the bayou to find animal friends. She’ll be hosting a party for the people of New Orleans, but missing a special ingredient. Some of the original cast will be providing their voices to the attraction, including Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Bruno Campos (Naveen), Michael Leon Wooley (Louis), and Jennifer Lewis (Mama Odie).
