Props To Be Removed To Allow For Additional Seating at Backlot Express in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Arguably one of our favorite parts about eating at Backlot Express in Disney’s Hollywood Studios are the props (well that, and very rarely, the food.) In a park where the magic of movie making is vanishing to mere ephemera and being replaced with themed RVs, every last bit of park history counts… except when it gets in the way of additional seating!

That’s right, Backlot Express is set to add additional seating throughout the restaurant to accommodate for the upcoming influx of guests to the area once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens on August 29th. And in order to accommodate for the additional seating, some of the interior props will be removed.

No timeline has been specified for the project, but it’s a sure guess they’ll want to have the additional seating in place by the time of the upcoming land’s opening, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on the restaurant and will update accordingly.

  1. We were just there yesterday looking for the prop car used in roger rabbit. We were informed that it had just been removed a few days previous. But the pictures from the movie are still on the wall. Rather disappointing because we went to backlot just to see that prop.

  2. I always thought this would make more sense as an Indy Jones themed eatery. Make it the warehouse where the artifacts are stored. The Ark gets animated and bounces every now and then, lots of fun. Still, will be sad to see the props leave.

  3. I was just there in March marvelling at the detail in those props and also laughing at the dates of the newspaper classifieds for stage hands. I guess everything moves on but I really love the feel and charisma of that area.
