Security Added to Top Floors of Disneyland Resort Parking Structures Following Third Death in a Year

Following a suicide at a Disneyland Resort parking structure last month, security Cast Members have been stationed on the top floor of each garage and additional security Cast Members are patrolling the rest of the structures.

We checked the sixth floor of the Pixar Pals parking structure and spotted a security Cast Member on each corner. It was this parking structure that a man jumped to his death from on Wednesday, November 15. The Orange County Coroner’s office ruled his death a suicide.

This was the sixth reported death at the Disneyland Resort parking structures since 2010, and the third in the past year.

In addition to the Cast Members stationed in the corners, there were two patrol cars and Cast Members on bikes circling each floor.

We spoke to one of the security Cast Members who said they are actively watching people who come to the top floor. If anyone starts walking towards the edge, they will approach them and call for backup.

They are trying to guide people away from the edge, asking them if they need help finding their car, etc.

We asked if Disney would add fencing or netting above the concrete walls, but the Cast Member did not know if there were such plans.

The Mickey and Friends parking structure was the world’s largest with 10,000 spaces when it opened in 2000, right before the opening of Disney California Adventure, the second Disneyland Resort theme park. The Pixar Pals parking structure opened in 2019, with 5,500 spaces.
