The last car of a four-car tram struck a rail, according to a statement given to the LA Times by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Maria Abal, who cited “some type of issue with the brakes.”

Representatives from Universal Studios Hollywood issued the following statement:

“There was a tram incident at the theme park tonight that resulted in multiple minor injuries, confirmed by the LA County Fire Dept. We are working to support our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident.”

Local station KLTA is currently reporting a total of 15 injured guests, including one with “critical injuries.” However, another local news station, KCAL, is now stating that “despite earlier reports, none appear to critical and all are non-life-threatening.” The incident occurred around 9 p.m. with the Los Angeles County Fire Department among the responders.

The trams are used for the World Famous Studio Tour, an attraction that shuttles guests around a series of backlot sets and attractions. The tour is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, with the tram featured prominently on merchandise and other collectibles.
