A reader wrote us and asked “I bought a black 9″ vinyl that I plan to bring to Disney to collect autographs on. Do you have any idea what the best kind of marker (I was thinking silver) to use on a vinylmation?”
Let us know your opinions so we can help our friend out. What do you feel is the best pen for black and white vinyl? Is it a black sharpie? One of those silver paint pens? Leave a comment with your experience having people sign your vinyls, preferably brand and color! Thanks.
Black Sharpie on a White Vinyl, Just remember over time the ink will bleed into the vinyl and turn purplish. Both 9″ and 3″ this will happen to, I would look into a paint maker like “Deco” just google that. Good luck.
ps. With a paint marker make sure that you allow a few minutes for it to dry completely. Thanks.
I’m guessing I’m wrong, but I thought characters weren’t allowed to sign the CYO figures. Or maybe this was just a fuss in Disneyland that I heard about?
M.C.! Where did you get a picture of such a fine looking Prince with Snow White? I’ve never had a problem with characters signing Vinylmation. I used a fine point permenent sharpie. Both face characters, like Princesses and costume charactures have signed mine at WDW. No one has had a problem, except Chip and Dale, but they did it and it looks great. I used a sharpie pen once, and it didnt dry all day and got smudged. I’ll have to look into the paint pens. So far, after a year, i dont notice any discoloring. Ive been planning a post about mine, guess M.C. is forcing me to do some work when i get home.
Characters at Disneyland won’t sign them. Cast members in the stores will tell you the characters won’t do it and if you try to have the characters sign it they either tell you no, or if they’re in the suit then their handlers will tell you no. They don’t let them sign anything except the autograph books as far as I’ve seen.
Did anyone figure out what works best on the Black Vinyl? I tried bic mark it’s in bright colors and you can barely see them.
