Update: 5/18/11 A picture on the Vinylmation.com blog today reveals Star Wars cases in Jabba’s Hut in Hollywood Studios. Then they reminded us that Star Wars Weekends will be coming in two days. This is probably as close to confirmation that SWW will be the re-release for the Star Wars set in WDW. From the rumors we have heard, expect the Star Wars set to only be available in Hollywood Studios (for Florida).
Update: 4/26/11 We noticed that the Art of Disney blog had the following announcement up. June 4th, 2011 Star Wars will be re-released at the Little Green Men Store Command in Tomorrowland, Disneyland. Also that night will be a signing with Mike Sullivan from 9am-11am. So now all we wait for is the official dates for WDW.

If you notice in this picture, they say that Star Wars is returning soon. There have been rumors floating around that they might be waiting to re-release the Star Wars series. Those rumors seem to be true as a cast member at D-Street said they were waiting for Star Wars Weekends. So be sure to look for them on May 20th, or there abouts. As always we will be keeping up with this story.
I was honestly surprised they didn’t just hold back the initial release for SWW. I’m hoping that maybe the 9″s that were talked about at one time show up then as well.
We too were bummed about the lack of 9″. According to Stephen, from back in December, “There are no 9″ as part of Star Wars 1”. But who actually knows for sure.. :)
“waiting for SWW”…since Disneyland does not host a Star Wars Weekend event, will this re-release be WDW only?

I would be really surprised if they didn’t release them at DLR the same day or later the next week. But when we find out more, we’ll ask that question for you!
We were there for last year’s SWW and saw some preview info that lead us to believe they were going to be released in 2010 for SW Celebration V that was in Orlando (in Aug, i think), but it was delayed then. Since we missed them once already, my son and I are hoping to catch them this next time around.
We thought they would be out for C5 also, and were very disappointed that they weren’t. Hopefully SWW ’11 is the winner for you.
This stinks. This is going to drive the value of them down.

Anybody living around WDW want to buy a case and mail it to me? Honestly though, we can work out money through paypal… please? ;-)
