What’s going on at the Disney Store Online? One of our readers Brandon logged on today to notice prices slashed everywhere! They went crazy with the markdowns and I went a little bit crazy by the end of this post trying to get it all out there. Enjoy…
When you just don’t know what to wear on your next date… Creature Ear Hat for $37.99
Cutesters Too! A great set, but quantities still around. $5.99 per blind box.
Why go all the way to Rockefeller Center. It’s cold outside. Just buy a NYC 9″ marked down to $19.99.
Various Occupations and Celebrations marked down to $13.56. Some like 1st visit is still full price. And others…
Like Chef here is only $12.71
Boo! Well, yay on the design though… and this price. $14.99 for Spooky 1
Quorra and Sam from TRON! …not marked down. But I’ll tell who is…
Hall of Famer Rod Carew… no, bad joke. And I’m getting delirious typing this post. Zuse and old school Kevin Flynn.
What about new Kevin Flynn you ask? Go ahead, ask….. Ok, he’s not quite full price but not quite marked down to the ones above. $10.36. That’s what happens when you give pricing guns to monkeys.
Are we done yet??? Nope! Urban 6 blind boxes for $8.96
And….. The Urban 6 combo!!! Nope, still full price. The Urban 8 combo!!!! Nope, try again. It’s the Urban 7 combo for $20.21. Hey, that’s also your project credit card pay off date because you buy so much Vinylmation…. so I hope this update helped. Egg Nog time!
I still can’t believe that the Urban 5 Creature set is still full price. Hasn’t it been out for like a year?
This does not look good for Vinylmation. Sure collectors are getting great deals right now, but what if you paid full price for an item? In the long run this is not helping collectors. Collectors from now on will think twice on those “I Don’t need this right now purchases”, this is a major cause and effect. In turn your Vinyls are being devalued right before your eyes, Vinylmation in a whole is be devalued as a whole in the name of short term profits by Disney. I guess they need to make up for their poor performances in the shipping department, with all those refunds and gift cards giving out over the last 3 years.
I can write a book about this whole situation thats happening right now. I studied economics for years in school, this does not look good. Sure you can get 20% off at the parks with the premium passes, but how many collectors bought those passes because of that incentive? I would say many. How many traders now will look at the 9″ New York vinyls and NOT TRADE at their retail value over the next year because of these sales. Look at the Snowman for an example.
What ever who cares right? …..
Clearancing stuff is something all companies do if certain things don’t sell. I guess they made way too many NYC vinyls and rather than sit on them for years to come, they’re getting rid of them to at least get some of their cost back. If they have hundreds of NYC vinyls collecting dust in a warehouse, they could probably care less about the value on the secondary market. They figure that they’re losing money and they need to fix that fast. What they need to do in the future is make smaller LE numbers for the most expensive and obscure items.
This could also just be a last minute Christmas sale and they’ll go back up after.
Enjoy it while you can! Disney is cleaning out the closet.
Remember, there are COLLECTIBLES not investments. Collect because you enjoy, not because you think vinyls will hold their value. They will hold their beauty, but not always their value. Disney is a BUSINESS. They are in this to make money, not to make us rich. 90% of these vinylmations we buy WILL loose value. 10% will appreciate for different reasons like collector appeal, rarity, etc.
For now, enjoy this Christmas present (inventory reduction = lower taxation) from Disney! Ho! Ho! Ho!
I am glad about this sale because I’m hoping it makes room for some park 7 blind boxes! … just hopeful I guess
That Statue of liberty figure now has my attention!
Prices continue to fall at disneystore.com. I just checked this morning and you can now find the following additions: Jingle Smells – Marshmallow Snowman – $5.99, 9″/3″ Kidada Never Grow Up – $45.00, Robots Tray of 24 – $149.99, 9″ Robots Silly Bot – $24.99 and 9″ Robots Reflector Bot – $24.99.
Sure, this doesn’t spell good news for those of us that have these items for trade, but Vinylmation values will continue to rise and fall with time. As Disney continues to pump out more Vinylmation product it’s quite apparent that a lot of this stuff will not climb to the same value of those vinyls that have come before them. Just collect what you like and take advantage of these great deals while they’re still around. Personally, I see a certain Kidada 9″ combo that has suddenly peaked my interest!
