WDWNT’s own Katey McGregor went on a special tour of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort on Monday and was nice enough to take a number of photos to share with us prior to the resort’s official opening on May 31st:
Pulling up to the resort
One of the large sketches on the exterior of the main building
A palette of colors dominate the check-in area, while early character concepts cover the opposite wall
An animator at work in the lobby. I hope this is a regular thing and not just something they were doing for the special event…
Some of your favorite characters looked a little different at first
Storyboard artwork covers a chandelier
This one is actually signed by hand by John Lasseter
More artwork on another wall
Landscapes of Flavor has 4 themed sections like the resort – Cars
The Little Mermaid
Finding Nemo
Lion King
The Ink and Paint Shop looks ready to go
The back of the Cars wing
Even the staircases are themed to the different films
The Lion King section is coming along nicely
I can kind of see Simba there…
Finding Nemo is ready to open on May 31st
A look inside the rooms
The bathroom looks like the sunken ship where the sharks live
Shower curtain
Squirt’s Righteous Reef
Ha…
Welcome to Radiator Springs!
A little bit of Cars Land in Florida
Sheriff hiding near the billboard as always
A picture with Doc Hudson
The Cadillac Range is on the buildings
Some of the town establishments were built
They even have the Cozy Cone sign
Sarge’s Surplus Hut
Guests are staying at the Wheel Well Motel
I didn’t know Luigi sold Lightyear tires
Another building has an entrance through Casa Della Tires
Guido!
The Cozy Cone motel
A look inside the rooms
The TV is on a toolbox
brilliant
The bathroom is a car wash…
Thanks for the report Katey!
this resort looks quite spectacular. So far I have only seen the pictures of the rooms with the Murphy beds. Thanks much !
Any idea of when these sections will be open?
AWESOME! My son has made us promise that our next trip (early 2013) will include a stay in the Cars wing. Bit pricey compared to our normal ASMo stays but hard to resist… especially the more pictures I see. :)
no cars pool pictures???

What is "ASMo"?
If this is a Value Resort then how is ASMo cheaper? I thought Value Resorts were cheapest on property hotels.
Drago-
ASMo is All Star Movies resort. The Cars wing is part of the family suites are and cost more than a basic room at other Values. The Art of Animation Resort will have some standard room but only in the Little Mermaid buildings when they open.

Everybody has to remember that the suites sleep 6 people, so the cost of it can be much lower if you split it up. I am going down in early october and can't wait for the cars suite. Also you have to consider the time of the week that you go, sunday thru thursday is a lot cheaper then friday-sat-sunday. I would stay here at any time.
