First look at Popcorns Vinylmation Variant

Update: 6/27/12 Box added.

Over at the vinylmation Facebook page they just posted a first look at a figure from the Popcorns Vinylmation line. As we found out last week, they will be selling a special variant from the Popcorns line at Comic-Con next month. Today we got a first look at the full figure of Mickey. It’s black and white AND pie-eyed, so this is the variant they will be selling at Comic-Con. What do you think? Do you like this series?

Update: 6/27/12 Today Disney put up a picture of the box that the Popcorns series will come in. If anything, it helps explain the name. It really does look like a popcorn box. What do you think?

And here’s a look at the back and side of the figure. Nothing really new to see though…

  1. Very weird and looks very disfigured. They need to simply focus on regualr vinylmation molds and forget trying to expand the product line so fast. Get control of the price points before popping out vinyl popcorn!

  2. I LOVE what I’ve seen so far. I think the point of these is obviously to give it a style. So disfigured is kind of the point.

  3. Not a fan. If Disney wants to make things like this…fine. I have seen worse, but just stop calling them Vinylmations. I get Park Starz, I even accept the Monorails (although I think they look terrible), but just because it’s small, made of vinyl, and Disney, doesn’t make it a Vinylmation. I wish they would go back to the days of marketing these as Art of Disney pieces with a little more uniformity.

  4. I don’t understand. What makes this figure “popcorn”? Nothing about the shape or appearance of the figure brings popcorn to mind. I don’t understand what Disney is getting at…

  5. I don’t like these at all – mind you, I don’t much like the Park Starz either – I am more than happy to stick to the ‘regular’ vinylmation mold (old or new I don’t mind!).

  6. Horrible! Won’t be buying this series.
I can see this headline in the near future: Popcorn Vinylmations coming soon to an outlet near you.

  7. Popcorn is just a name, like Pook-A-Looz or Lego. It doesn’t have to mean anything. I like it, it looks like a cubist painting or something. Neat!

  8. For the most part I’ve been against all the vinylmation expansion other than Park Starz but this guy looks AMAZING! I can’t wait to see the other designs and will defitnely pick up a case if there are to be blind boxes.
