October 1, 2012 is a big day in Walt Disney World history… Epcot celebrates it’s 30th anniversary. We got hints of a few Vinylmation customs, but today the Disney Parks Blog finally showed us some pictures of these inspired pieces.
Noah will have a few 9″ and 3″ customs with this design scheme. No word on numbers or prices. The 9″ will come on a stand with a print back drop. That Epcot print will also be available for purchase.
Artist John Henselmeier (who created the greatest pin set known to man, see below) designed the above set of customs for the event as well. All of these items will be released at MouseGear starting at park open on October 1. No Disney production piece Vinylmation announced. Now, if you are also into pins, you may have seen all the Epcot 30th pins that will available on October 1. We covered them extensively on the Once Upon a Pin podcast and have them all in a photo album on our Facebook page, but here is a quick look.
That is the John Henselmeier designed pin set I was talking about. It is Spaceship Earth, it is innovative, it has multiple Donalds… it is the coolest thing I have ever seen.
I also love the above double hinge, triple circle pin. Below are a few more Epcot pins that will be released on September 28. All LE pins come out on October 1, but some open editions come out a few days earlier.
Also from the Disney Parks Blog:
On Monday, October 1, we will release several “day of” items including three shirts that have “October 1, 2012” and the “Epcot 30” logo, as seen in the first image above. For those who can’t attend that weekend, those three dated shirts and the 11 World Showcase shirts will be sold via the Disney Parks online store from September 28 through October 4.
One of the more interesting items is something new called “Cover Your Ears.” This Spaceship Earth-inspired cover will fit over a regular Mickey Mouse ear hat. Additional special ear hat embroidery will be offered at Mouse Gear through October 1.
Now here, again from the Disney Parks Blog, is a schedule of events:
Throughout the day on October 1, guests can attend Epcot history presentations in World Showplace courtesy of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. These presentations are included in park admission and are limited in seating.
1-2 p.m. – Designing the Future – Past and Present: A panel of Disney Imagineers remembers 30 years of building tomorrow!
4:30–6 p.m. – Epcot: How it Changed the World with Marty Sklar
6:30–8 p.m. – Epcot: How it Changed the World with Marty Sklar
Guests can also attend an anniversary moment at the America Gardens Theatre at 3 p.m., which will feature appearances by Disney leaders and include performances by Mariachi Cobre and Voices of Liberty. (Seating for this presentation is also limited.)
That evening, the October 1 presentation of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will feature a special 30th anniversary tag.
I’ll see everybody there! What time will you be arriving?
What is the disney parks online store web address. I wish i could be there but things just didnt work out
. Love so much of the stuff.
Here is a link to the Epcot 30th section at the online store: http://www.disneystore.com/mn/1014310/?CMP=EMC-eml&att=20120928_ParksEPCOT&RRID=14393060
I’m loving all of the 30th merchandise. That park was so magical when I was a kid. Horizons was the best. Talking to SMRT-1was a blast. I loved how there was a store that sold future sort of things and had two-levels — now it is just a single story store that sells what is sold everywhere else…but back to the merchandise. Very exciting. Do we know if the retro/pixelated/game-like figment shirt will be out? It isn’t out yet is it?
I think a lot comes out today (9/28), I’ll let everybody know what I see there today. I know the Open Edition pins are out today.
I’ll be there. I’ve never been to one of these anniversary events where there’s a lot of merchandise. How does this normally work? Is it just a mad dash free for all? What time can we start lining up outside the park? Will they give out wristbands? Thanks.
WDWgirl great question. I will also be there. I was at last years Magic kingdom Anniversary. It was crazy. You had to get there really early get a wrist band which gave you a time to come back. Then you had to wait on another really long line when you came back at your designated time. This was first come first serve. So by the time I got there all of the “I WAS THERE” Pins with the date were sold out. People know the value of these in the secondary market. It was crazy and most of my day was spent on lines and not the ones that end in me on a ride.
All this being said I don’t believe they are doing this, this year. I have not heard anything so far as to time and location for wrist band. Looks to be a fight to get there as early as possible and find by luck where you need to be. Kind of like going to walmart on black friday. CRAZY!!! Good Luck, look to see you there. I will be the guy in the front ready to make a sprint to what I want, If need be.
Lets take a vote who thinks The Noah 9″ will be selling for higher or lower than $1000.00. My guess higher. I’d say $1200.00. People are crazy! Be warned NOAH is good at making the display very colorful and the ones you buy just 2 colors.
Rob, I was there for the MK 40th Anniversary. I got on line at 5:30 in the morning. I was lucky enough to pick up the “I Was There” pin. Actually have an extra one I can sell to you for whatever I paid last year. I’m here for F&W and I’m hoping to get the Epcot I Was There pin. Let me know if you’re interested in the MK pin.
WDW Girl, Rob, Liz – The MK 40th was done very well. I also arrived around 5:30am and that was good enough for me to get a wristband giving me a time to enter the merchandise store where it seemed every pin was still available. I had no idea what to expect for that one and thought I was crazy showing up so early, but people were there hours before me. I don’t think it will be a mad dash free for all at Epcot. They know people are going to be lining up for this merchandise and I would be surprised not to see a wristband distribution outside the gates. The problem is, I have not seen a set merchandise area yet. Will the pins be at the kiosk? Mouse Gears with all the other merchandise? I separate set up area like the World Showplace (where Mickey’s Circus was held). Also, sure a wristband gets you in, but I can still see people running from the gates to where ever the merch is.
You can line up just about as early as you want. So there will be people there early morning. The good thing is Epcot is more accessible than MK. It took me an hour after I parked to get to the gates last year because the resorts turned me away and the ferries, monorails were not running. A group of us had to get a CM to call us a bus.
