Extended Hours for November 2 WDW Trade Night

Update: 11/01/12 Since we first brought you this news about extended hours, the Vinylmation Events page has re affirmed the 4-9pm trading hours and the apparent use of all the Ballrooms (plural). Again we ask why? A good thing for sure, but is it just for extra room or some kind of entertainment, artist signing or release? I’m also thinking maybe a larger mobile store with on sale Vinyls to sell off extra D-Street inventory?

We have been waiting since Mickey’s Circus four the Walt Disney World’s next trading night on November 2nd, and according to Disney’s pin blog, the hours have been extended to give guests two extra hours of trading! The event will now take place from 4-9pm at the Contemporary Resort. As always, these bi-monthly trading nights are FREE to all guests and select Vinylmation and Pins should be on sale. This is the first time I’ve seen the hours extended like this. I wish the extension went an hour or two later as opposed to earlier. Due to work, the extension doesn’t help me, but will you be getting there earlier to trade? Will you try to make it the entire five hours? Come early, take a break and go back for the end? Just so you know this was not a misprint, they specifically called out the time extension:

“In order to provide more hours of fun, we are starting the November 2nd pin trading night event at 4:00pm!”

Also of note, and this one may be a misprint, they say the event will take place at: “Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Fantasia A-G Ballroom.” A-G? Are they extending the trading space for us?

  1. I haven’t been to one of these trading nights before, but I have been to the annual Pin event in September. Will there be Disney pin trading boards/games, like at the pin events, or is it mostly just pin/vinyl trading amongst fans?

And if I don’t get there early/when it opens, will all the good pins basically be gone, or do they rotate the pin trading boards out every once in a while? Thanks.

    • There will be a Disney pin trading board, but no games like at the annual event and the board is smaller like you would find inside Disney pin trading stores. The draw is really the trading among the guests. I’m not sure how often they refresh or even if they refresh the board during these events. I have never traded on one of them as I prefer to spend time trading with other guests. There will also be a Disney mystery and clear Vinylmation trading station. That box is often refreshed with a few goodies such as chasers and variants. The line does get long for that one, especially at the start of the event. You could spend 15 minutes per trade in that line. Trading for both pins and vinyls begins in the hallway outside the event, but if you don’t need to secure table space to sit down with your collection (or if you want to purchase the pin trading night pin quickly), there is no need to get there before the doors open. There is also a shop section with select pins and vinyl.

  2. I heard Disney was toying with the idea of changing the name of the bi-monthly events to “WDW Trade Afternoons.” The longer name will allow them to sell a larger PTA pin for a higher price. LOL

    • Nice! I’d like to know who is advocating for this extended time? If anything, I’d want one or two hours LATER. I like California’s 7p-10p event time.

  3. Well, now that the evening is over….. I liked the extra time, BUT I agree I think it should have gone later instead of starting at 4. Even if they split it by starting at 5 and going to 10, that would have been great! All in all, a great trade night without the rush of only 3 hours to get through all the tables in the room! lol AWESOME to see everyone there! :)

  4. Was our first trading nite and we did very well. Much better than in the 13 days around the parks. Met some very friendly people and did se cool trades

    • Unfortunately, the next WDW Trade Night is not until February (unspecified date). Trade Nights alternate month to month between WDW and DLR. But they told me because WDW had January this year, DLR gets January in 2013. Which makes no sense because WDW now will go 2 months without one.
