Over on Vinylmation Exchange on facebook, Josh Edwards has shown off a variant colored C3PO from Star Wars Series 1 that he got from a “high up” friend. Check out these pics and see what you think? As we speak someone is showing off the pictures to Mike Sullivan and then we’ll get some more answers, but the piece looks real. Were they going to have both a Chaser Variant and a Variant in the first Star Wars series? Crazy!

Aw. The yellow is ten times better even though I like the dark gold finish.
I wouldn’t call the yellow C3PO a variant but rather a pre-production sample. One can speculate that the “higher ups” were deciding which gold look would translate better in the actual production series. Because we crave variety in our Vinylmations, it would have been nice to have had the yellow version as a variant. Imagine how a gold chrome variant would have excited the masses?
