VIDEO: Disappointing Disney Villains Segment Invades “Celebrate the Magic” Show

Short and sweet, and perhaps a bit underwhelming, the Villains segment debuted in “Celebrate the Magic” on Sunday evening at the Magic Kingdom. The new segment of the show is included to celebrate Halloween and does so in a very short run time under 1.5 minutes. See the segment for yourself:

Removed from the show is the seasonal summer segment, as well as the segment featuring Buzz Lightyear, Pirates of the Caribbean and Brave.

Unlike previous additions to the show, the Villains portion does little to use the castle for any novel effects. While we always appreciate seasonal updates to the show, this one seems somewhat ill-concieved

So, what do you think of this new segment?

  1. Love it! Not sure what you didn't like about it compared to previous segments. I think (based on your posted video) that it is pretty cool.

  2. that's a fireworks show right? Where were the fireworks? I didn't hear them nor see them. Otherwise it's ok but I think when celebrating Halloween that they should have an entire show dedicated to it like the villains firework show, the villains parade stuff like that instead of inserting little things here and there. It would also give them opportunities to showcase some villains walking around the park that we don't get to see as much.

    • The fireworks show is Friday the 13th at Hollywood Studios. I thought about going Sunday night to see the new villians segment, but I guess I didn't miss much. I am going on the 13th.

  3. It's not the fireworks show – its a short addon before the Celebrate the Magic show. There is a special parade, meet and greet, and fireworks show that includes villains during "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" but that is a special ticketed even that is separate from the normal end of night shows.

    • Get comfortable… Celebrate the Magic actually started out as a show called "The Magic, The Memories, and You!". The show started in 2011 at both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. It is a show that uses the latest in projection technology. The projections are able to transform the castle into different scenes that celebrate various Disney movies, characters, TV shows and such. The first version of this show used photos of guests taken by the PhotoPass photographers throughout the day. In late 2012, Disney did away with the photos concept and instead focused on celebrating Disney animation and film, which is what you see in the video above: projections that transform the castle and feature a wide variety of Disney characters. Does that help?

  4. I can only find Magical which is the fireworks show but can't find anything on Celebrate the magic on the entertainment schedule

    • never mind this is in Florida, in Los Angeles we refer to Disneyland as the magic Kingdom so when I saw magic Kingdom I thought Disneyland. So much more stuff is put on here for Florida stuff than Disneyland stuff.

      • Hey Rachael,
