Park 13
8 Figure Blind Box Series
Expected to be released in November 2013
08/29/13 Today Vinylmation World posted some pics of the Park 13 series. What do you think of these? Where do you think the Bellhop we saw earlier fit into this set?

The Head Salesman
(Trader Sam, Chief Name)
Jungle Cruise
Magic Kingdom
Long time coming. Beautiful design with umbrella and flowers in the ears. We still need a Park Starz version.
There is a ton of talk about his name and both sides are kind of correct. This figure for sure represents the Magic Kingdom version and not the Disneyland version. But here is a link to the best article I could find about the name. It is from a former Jungle Cruise Skipper.

Three Headed Troll
Maelstrom
Norway, Epcot
A beautifully drawn depiction of the most memorable part of this attraction. The canvas is full of color and personality.

Box ‘O Bot Target
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spun
MK, Disneyland
Odd choice, but a neat nod to a fun attraction. A good overall design with the Zurg targets and starry ears.

Claire de Room
It’s Tough to be a Bug
Animal Kingdom, DCA
Very simple figure. Not my first choice for a character from this attraction, but she does decorate a fun billboard.

Devil
Mr. Toads Wild Ride
MK, Disneyland
Nice simple look on a popular character from a beloved attraction. Love the pitch fork.

Injun Joe’s Cave
Tom Sawyer’s Island
Magic Kingdom
A nice feature in the cave itself, but an odd depiction on the vinyl.

Catastrophe Canyon
Backlot Tour
DHS
The attractions needs to go. But this part was always fun. Explosions, fire and gushing water taking guests back stage of action movie’s special effect. The design is full of action and really puts you on the ride.

Pardon Our Pixie Dust
Mystery Chaser
Disney Theme Parks
A wonderful chaser depicting the famous signs Imagineers post around construction zones at the Disney parks.

Pardon Our Pixie Dust
Variant Chaser
Variant Chaser
Disney Theme Parks
Very underwhelming for a Park series! None of these figures scream “must have” to me!
Agreed. I don’t want a single one.
Also the 7th one is Injun Joe’s Cave from Tom Sawyer Island.

I’m in love with the devil from Mr Toads
I like the 3 Headed Troll and Trader Sam, but the others are very non-descript. I like the vivid colors but the designs just don’t shout “Buy Me!”
If I may use an “old phrase” from X-S (Just changed a little)
“If it can’t be done by Maria Clapsis or Caylee Hicks, then it shouldn’t be done at all”
Except for the Frozen two pack…
This is one of my favorite sets. The three-headed troll was always on my wish list of vinyls they would make. I can’t wait to see the side angle shots for that one. I like the whimsical stars in the ears — just like the ride! Trader Sam, Target and the devil are also great as well. And I like how there is a theme going on — all of the vinyls are taken from the spookier or eviler parts of these rides. I wonder what the “chaser” will be? After playing Epic Mickey, maybe the Small World clock? Kidding — kind of.
Just to let you know that isn’t Trader Sam it’s the one an only Chief Nami.
Originally it was Trader Sam and I think nowadays it depends on the skipper, on my last trip a year ago he was referred to as Trader Sam but I do remember him being called Chief Nami before.
But I do love the story behind the name….(from DisneyShawn’s old blog)
“It was decided that he should receive a new name in the show, since Sam didn’t seem to fit him. When it came time for the first Skipper read-through of the script, however, a name had not yet been determined. The line on the page simply said:
Just ahead is Chief (NAME).
As we went through the show, each Skipper took a turn delivering a line from the script, so we could all get a feel for it. When it came to the Chief, the poor fellow whose turn it was apparently didn’t grasp the fact that (NAME) was meant to be a placeholder. Instead, he attempted to pronounce the word. His delivery of “Chief Nah-Mee” was so priceless, it became an instant hit with the Skippers. From there on out, no other suggestions came close. So in the end, the name, uh… Namee stuck.”
Ironically, I have never heard Trader Sam referred to as Chief Name. I have made 11 trips over the last 5 years between DLR and WDW. Of course, multiple rides on Jungle Cruise. Trader Sam has been the name always used by our skippers if a name is ever used. Will have to ask next trip if anyone calls him Chief Name.
Oh yeah, on my WDI Employee Badge pin, he is referred to as Trader Sam. Here is the PinPics link.

As I mentioned on another site, I was told late last year that Park sets were already designed in the motiff we have become acustomed to thru Park 13. Starting with Park 14, we are supposed to see a new, exciting direction with the Park series. Not sure exactly what that means, but I hope it’s revolutionary!
That scares me.
I really only like Trader Sam but collect all the Park sets so probably will end up getting these.
One question – if it is only supposed to be an 8 vinyl set – is one of these shown the Chaser????
Hopefully Madam Leota can be the chaser!!!
I don’t want her as a chaser only because I want to be able to get her for a decent price. Just release her in a Haunted Mansion series 2.
