7/2/14 Walt Disney World Photo Report (The Magic Kingdom & Epcot)

WDWNT Reporter John Corigliano visited the Magic Kingdom and Epcot earlier this week and has some newsworthy photos to share with us:

The massive overhaul of the hub at the Magic Kingdom continues

A lot of new walking space that used to be moat…

The Astro Oribter is in the middle of a multi-month refrubishment

The Peoplemover is also closed during this time

Every few years, the ride is essentially disassembled and rebuilt

All of the planets have been removed

Moving to Epcot, we can see the work on the water main much clearer from the monorail

Over at Test Track, the FastPass machines and their canopy have been removed

Really strange to see this missing

  1. Could the Astro Orbiter’s ride cars be given a Star Wars treatment?
That would spoil the Retro feel that makes this so special, so I guess not!
Maybe they will slip something ‘Star Wars’ into the PeopleMover indoors section (less intrusive?)

It’s a bit odd, that after a few years of owning LucasFilm, there’s no hint of ‘Project Orange Harvest’ from D23!

    • I hope they don’t give the Orbiter a Star Wars facelift. Don’t get me wrong, I love Star Wars and I’m all for adding new Star Wars attractions, but do it over at Hollywood Studios and let Tomorrowland keep that killer retro charm.

  2. Thanks for the pics! Am missing the World, just got home from a trip there on 6/23, and these pics do help. Wow those FP distributions at TT and EO were still there around 6/22. Changes! You would never know TT FP area was ever there, you might just think “ah they re-paved this”. In 2 years will we even remember such things? :)
