Hollywood Studios Closing Multiple Offerings January 4th To Make Way for Star Wars Land

With the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights concluding on Sunday, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be moving full speed ahead on clearing land for the upcoming expansion of the park to add both the Star Wars and Toy Story themed lands.

The Phineas and Ferb and Cars character meet and greets, as well as the nearby Cars merchandise cart and Joffrey’s coffee location near the Premier Theater will be shuttered on January 4th, 2016 to make way for the expansion. Early work on the removal of these two meet and greets and the Premier Theater will begin at that time. No word has yet been given on the removal of the Streets of America, the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” play area, or other nearby establishments rumored to be removed as part of the expansion.

  1. I spoke to a cast member who works at the T shirt stand on the Streets of America. She said removal of the streets will begin Jan 6. Just thought you should know!

  2. How can they leave Muppets…its in between star tours and these things…..I can’t figure out how star wars land is going to be

    • It will remain. A Muppet Studios area will be coming to DHS as part of its expansion–it just hasn’t been announced yet.

Star Wars Land will be built behind Star Tours and Toy Story Land will be built behind Toy Story Midway Mania.

  3. My son will be gutted they are taking the cars character meet and greet ( all be it just a photo opportunity) away. Am I right in thinking this is the ONLY cars attraction at Disney World!!??

    • I agree with Char, we have stayed AOA twice. Once in Nemo, the second time at Cars and they have the cars outside between the buildings. Pool even looks like the Cozy Cone. Great picture opts there.
