CONFIRMED: Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade to Conclude At Magic Kingdom

Today, Disney announced to entertainment cast members that the Main Street Electrical Parade at the Magic Kingdom will officially conclude October 9th, 2016 as their contracts will not be renewed at this time.

The parade returned to Walt Disney World in 2010 and replaced its replacement SpectroMagic, which was supposed to return at then of the Summer that year. The Electrical Parade’s run was extended indefinitely and SpectroMagic was left outside to rot until it was realized that the parade was beyond repair. The Electrical Parade has run at the Magic Kingdom on most nights since that June 2010 return.

This announcement comes on the heels of news last week that the new Electrical Parade, “Paint the Night” at the Disneyland Resort, will conclude on September 5th. One would suspect that Paint the Night will be moving to the Magic Kingdom based on these announcements, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Disney has just announced that the Main Street Electrical Parade will return to Disneyland Resort for a limited engagement.

  1. It was one of our favorites things at magic kingdom. How sad. I hope they come back with another special night parade. ☹️☹️☹️

  2. I was at the park on Sunday night and watched the Electrical Parade with my family. My grandson Gabe it was his first time at 14 months to see the parade he loved it! The parade is like one of our Disney fixes. You just have to have it. I did see the floats were in need of some repair. I’m really hoping Disney is considering another Parade in the evening. It’s a Disney staple!!!

  3. I’m glad. I didn’t particularly like the parade, and it made it hard to get a good spot for the fireworks unless you watched the parade too. I loved Spectromagic, but was never a fan of MSEP.

  4. NO! I absolutely agree with the comment on the Main Street Electrical Parade being a staple. It’s my favorite thing in the Magic Kingdom.

Disney, please reconsider this decision and keep the Main Street Electrical Parade.

  5. Good riddance. Never liked this parade, that music goes through me like a knife. After listening to that music twice every night (I worked there during a summer season) I’m happy to never hear it again.

Unrelated comment to all Disney bloggers, including wdwnt folks: please utilize spell and grammar check. Consider taking a writing course as well. Love the news, but many Disney blogger “professionals” really need to step up their game where writing is concerned.

  6. I have not seen nor heard of replacement, however, I am currently planning a trip for february 2017 and the WDW operating schedule has it still running, but only on select nights. Not going to run tues, wed, thurs nights in feb except during race week. This schedule was last updated on July 15, 2016, though, but I suppose I’ll still consider it while I’m planning, until they update the schedule again.

    • It was officially announced on Aug 4, 2016 that the parade was coming to an end at WDW and moving to DL.. calendars should be updated now and all desert party purchasers have been contacted.

      • I just left Disneyland two days ago where I was told by a cast member they will indeed move Main Street Electrical to Disneyland while WDW receives Paint the Night! It’s a fabulous parade and will be great for WDW.
