Over the weekend, work began on removing the viewing area for the former “Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in preperation for the new Toy Story and Star Wars themed land being added to the park.
Lights, Motors, Action! performed for the very last time over 4 months ago, and while the staging for the show was removed some time ago, the 5,000 seat viewing area is just beginning to be torn down.
Disney has not provided a timetable for when demolition in the backlot area of the park will be completed, nor when either the Toy Story or Star Wars themed lands will open.

About time. At the rate WDW is going, Disneyland’s Star Wars Land is going to be open a year or two before ours.
Thanks for the update Tom.
Demolition is going very slowly. I expected demolition to be completed by now at DHS as Disneyland appears to be moving towards vertical construction soon.
Toy story land will open on late 2017 and Star Wars land will open next on 2018.
That’s a pretty ambitious schedule Mike for two lands still requiring extensive demolition of the previous land tenants. In comparison, look at Pandora at Animal Kingdom, which began construction in late 2014 and still is not open. My guess is Toy Story will open in 2018 to coincide with the release of Toy Story 4 and we won’t see Star Wars Land open on the east coast until the following year in 2019 (however, it will probably open first on the west coast in late 2018).
Disneylands Star Wars Land opening first is not a bad thing, at least they will learn what works and what doesn’t before WDWs actually opens. Meaning once again that the WDW version is much superior.
And with Disney Infinity signage on it. How fitting.
