In our latest photo report, we visit the Magic Kingdom to see what is new and exciting around the park, but first, we make a quick stop at the Contemporary…
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
The exterior of the Contemporary is currently being repainted.
In case you can’t tell, it is quite the project to repaint a structure of this size.
Cinderella Crane-stle
The top turrets of the castle were finally painted and are looking fantastic.
So Long Scoop
Scoop Sanderson’s last day on Main Street U.S.A. on a regular basis will be October 8th, 2016.
New Signs at Carousel of Progress
In case you missed our full post about it, new signage was installed at Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.
In probably the most ridiculous statement ever made on this website, watch the below video to see the sign in a action…
Tomorrowland Rocks
The repainting of the rocks at the entrance of Tomorrowland continues.
The project appears to be nearing completion and should be done by October 1st.
If you loved our video of a sign moving, then you’ll probably also want to check out our video of rocks being painted:
FuelRod Expands
As we reported earlier this week, the number of FuelRod kiosks around Walt Disney World will be growing, starting with adding a second machine at the highest traffic locations. Above is Town Square Theater.
There are now also two machines at the exit of Space Mountain.
Liberty Square
Walls are finally down around the Riverboat Landing as work has wrapped up on the refurbishment project.
Meanwhile, work continues in front of the Haunted Mansion.
“it’s a small world” Returns
“It’s a small world” reopened from its refurbishment this week, but there is still work to be done all around the attraction.
Many of the moving pieces in the ride were broken or missing, so hopefully work will continue on the attraction.
The hippo didn’t wink, which ruined my day.
He just sort of had a lazy eye…
Some of the creepy straw men were turned sideways now.
The mechanism for the surfer kid was clearly sticking out when we rode.
This and That
I rode Dumbo, which is a rare occurrence for me…
A new Alice in Wonderland retail MagicBand is now available.
Someone left a Citrus Swirl out in the sun. I promise it wasn’t me.
Jasmine’s portrait at Princess Fairytale Hall reflects her old costume, so I have to wonder if it will change.
Some new Disney Boutique items for sale around the parks.
Winnie the Pooh Tsum Tsum figures are available at the exit of the attraction in Pooh’s Thoughtful Spot.
A test is being run for a Guest Relations and ticket sales location inside of the Tomorrowland Light and Power Company.
It is located in the very back of the shop, next door to the D-Tech on Demand area.
The Hocus Pocus MagicBand is back for the season.
New patriotic Mickey and Minnie designs available as well.
New Made with Magic Bow
The Made with Magic bow was redesigned, it is now mostly pink.
All of the Made with Magic items also went up in price.
The new tag is pretty neat.
The Haunted Mansion
As we reported yesterday, the interactive finale at the Haunted Mansion has been disabled for weeks now.
While it was supposed to be exclusive to the Halloween Party, the candy corn cotton candy is now available during the day.
A new line of 1971 women’s apparel was released recently.
The party exclusive cupcakes are now also out during the day at the Main Street bakery. Check out my review below:
I have to admit I’m oddly disappointed by the rock painting video. I was hoping to actually see someone painting the rocks. I’m curious what method they’re using. What does that say about me?
Hi Curt, thanks for your question. The reason you don’t see anyone painting in the video is because we only use vampires as painters and they don’t show up on camera. Now you may be asking yourself why they can be out during the day, the answer is quite simple really. The Walt Disney Company has spent billions in sun protection technology for vampire cast members, the Walt Disney Company is actually the #1 employer of vampires. To answer your other question about the process, we use a latex based semi gloss paint for the base coat followed by air brushed metallic paint over top.
Hope this helps!
That is the funniest thing I’ve read all day! :)
