RUMOR: Disney Has An Opening Date for Rivers of Light at Animal Kingdom and It’s Really Soon

I know that there has been a tremendous amount of speculation as to when Disney might be debuting Rivers of Light, the new nighttime show for Animal Kingdom (which is now a whopping 6 months late after being set to debut April 22nd, 2016), but it looks like we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel now. Supposedly. Maybe.

"Rivers of Light,"the majestic nighttime jewel, coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom creates an illuminating musical experience for guests. Currently in development with a premiere date to be announced soon, "Rivers of Light" will celebrate the magic of animals, humans and the natural world with a blend of performers, floating lanterns and theatrical animal imagery. If sources are to be believed, Disney is eyeing November 18th, 2016 as the official debut date for Rivers of Light. This is not set in stone and is still being discussed internally, but it seems highly likely at this point in time. This would be just days ahead of the Destination D event where it is believed D23 members in attendance will get to be a part of a private showing of the new nighttime spectacular.

Regardless, we expect an announcement from Disney very, very soon.

If it makes you feel any better, some cast members who have been present for recent dress rehearsals of Rivers of Light have called it “stunning”, “beautiful”, and one even went so far as to call it “the greatest thing I have ever seen in my life”. Color me excited for this one, folks.

  1. Well since you guys seem to have a new rumor on the start date every week, I’m not really believing this one either, until it’s officially released.

You guys need to get a handle on your rumors. You can’t just print every little thing you hear, it makes people stop trusting you as an source on credible info. You’re becoming the blog that cried Rivers of Light. The villagers are getting annoyed.

    • Do you mean like when I posted Celebrate the Magic was going away earlier this week and then it was announced the next day?

      Or how about this post?

In that post we say it will debut November/December at the latest. Seeing as though that’s the only stab at a date we have made (other than the Disney World website posting inaccurate information) and it matches this story, I’m not sure what you are talking about.

      • Rumors are a big reason we visit this site. I love hearing them.
(Except that ill-advised, utterly stupid one about Joe Rohde bring fired. That was lame)

      • How about the rumor you posted of a May start date? What about the WDW ToT Guardians rumors? How about the Dr. Stange meet and greet?

But sure, you can nit pick the couple ones you got right.

    • What villagers are getting annoyed? All I see are complaints about the excessive amount of clickbait. As long as it’s clearly presented as a rumor and not as fact, it shouldn’t matter how many posts there are as long as Tom doesn’t make a huge freaking deal about being right about something. Nice try Lou Mongello!

    • What villagers getting annoyed? This is the first post I’ve seen complaining Bout rumor postings. Most people are upset about all the shameless clickbait, but not rumors. As long as they’re presented as rumors, what does it matter how many rumors are posted? As long as he doesn’t shamelessly brag about something when he gets it right, I see nothing wrong. Nice try Lou Mongello
