UPDATE: Evacuation of Fort Wilderness at Disney World Ordered Ahead of Hurricane

Disney’s Firt Wilderness Resort and Campground will close at 2:00pm on Thursday as a precautionary measure ahead of Hurricane Matthew. Guests are now being ordered to leave the resort by then, rather than it being simply suggested.

All RVs are being accommodated in the Cruella Lot of the Magic Kingdom parking area.

Campground guests are being moved to alternate accommodations as previously reported. Disney is providing transportation for all guests to their alternate accommodations if need be.

  1. Smart move by Disney. We were supposed to go this weekend and are thinking about seeing if we can cancel.

    • The Wilderness Lodge is totally different and separate from Fort Wilderness — there is no “Fort” in the title of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

  2. We just left FW this morning. Originally, they were going to accommodate the RVs. But as of 2pm, they were asking all RVs to leave property for Tampa or some other safe place so they wouldn’t have to take care of any damages that may happened RVs. For tent/cabin guests, they were moving to other resorts or even convention center space. Also, no promise of refunds/comp.

  3. Feeling very blessed that our Disney Vacation was last week. We left Fort Wilderness campground in our RV last Saturday. Prayers for everyone still theres safety

    • Yes obviously God blessed you so you could have a good vacation and is smitting everyone that is there now.
