UPDATE: World of Color at Disney California Adventure Will Not Return Until Late 2018

It’s official. The famous World of Color nighttime show at Disney California Adventure will not be returning until late in 2018.

Disney is claiming “routine maintenance” is the reason for the delay, but our sources are giving us a different story. Apparently, the submerged table that holds all of the show elements (fountains, water screens, etc.) has been severely damaged.

Subsequently, the required work on the table will delay the re-opening of World of Color until late this year.

Previously, we reported that World of Color would be “going dark from April 13th through May 24th, 2018 to accommodate construction of PIXAR Pier and the Incredicoaster.

It is likely that it will return as “World of Color – Season of Light” as that is a big draw during the holiday season at Disneyland.

Stay tuned to WDWNT for an official re-opening date for World of Color.

  • You think they could have announced this a little sooner. We have yet to see WOC because it has been down each Disneyland trip and now we just booked for late July, and still…no WOC sounds like :(

  • Darn, was hoping from the title that it was “World of Color at Disney California Adventure Will Not Return”. I just don’t understand how people like this show. They could use that area for something much better.

  • Most people don’t know that WOC is an homage to a water fountain show that used to be in front of the old Disneyland hotel. They had a nightly show, definitely not on the scale of this one, in front of the hotel. Both Disneyland Paris and Shanghai Disneyland have moats in front of their castles, Shanghai is the much larger one, and they combine WOC with their fireworks show. The only thing about thing about either is that unless you are close to the castle at Paris or Shanghai it is hard to see the projections on the water. I saw in Dubai they have a water show that puts both WOC and the Bellagio fountains to shame. It is on an EPIC scale. The WOC Christmas show is among my favorite. They’ve improved it each year.
