The new Disney Vacation Club resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, is getting closer and closer to its December opening. With about 6 months left, now is the time when we start to see some of the finer details of the project come to fruition. Let’s take a look and see what’s changed since our last update.
Construction Updates
Cranes are hard at work on the front side of the building; unfortunately that area is restricted and we can’t get a good look at it currently.
This is the back side of the building, which faces the water. It seems to be almost finished, with a few details left along the first floor and the central doorway.
The landscaping is coming along nicely. The pool area is really starting to take form.
The water slide is coming together. The slide itself is partially uncovered and they’re hard at work on it.
You can see some of the details on the building itself, too. Some interesting lattice designs in between the balconies.
This side of the building still has lots of scaffolding up. This is the side that faces the Riviera Skyliner station.
You can see they decided to go with red awnings on the front windows, as opposed to the blue and orange in the back. It adds a nice splash of color to a rather grey building.
Disney Skyliner
The covered walkway between the main building and the Skyliner station is progressing as well.
It’s always a good idea to build shade in Florida, even if it’s only covering a few hundred feet.
They added some landscaping to the station. All of these trees are new in the last couple weeks.
You can see sprinkler systems installed in the dirt here. More landscaping is on the way!
This might be my favorite Skyliner station design so far. It’s coming together well and seems pretty classy.
The Skyliner, of course, will take guests either straight to Epcot from here, or down to Caribbean Beach and then from there to either Hollywood Studios or Art of Animation Resort.
On the top floor of the right side of the building, will be Topolino’s Terrace, a restaurant with what’s shaping up to be quite the view.
In addition to nice views of the fireworks at dinner, they also plan to have a character dining breakfast. Reservations are officially available now.
Disney’s Riviera Resort is planned to open this Fall, with the first room reservations slated for December. You can read more about Disney’s Riviera Resort, as well as see concept renderings of the rooms and other parts of the resort here.
