Feast of the Three Kings is asking us to “travel to the Caribbean for a fa-la-la-la-fabulous fusion of food, drink, and culture celebrating the story of the Magi.” I’m all for a Caribbean getaway, so let’s dig into this 2019 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays booth and see if they live up to their promise.

Pastelón: Sofrito-marinated Beef with Sweet Plantains and Olives – $5.00
Consisting of sofrito-marinated beef with sweet plantains and olives, this dish was certainly meaty and a good portion for the cost. Think of it as a high-end and better-tasting Hamburger Helper.
Queso Fresco-stuffed Arepa topped with Shrimp, Crushed Avocado Aji and Tomato Sauce – $6.00
Topped with shrimp, crushed avocado aji and tomato sauce, this is the better of the two arepa offerings, but it’s still bland overall as the arepa itself is not good.
Arepas topped with Melted Queso Fresco – $4.50
Topped with melted queso fresco, this arepa is very poor and doesn’t even have the elements that the queso fresco-stuffed version has to help it out. Arepas can be amazing – these are, sadly, the opposite of that.
Tres Leches Rice Pudding with Pumpkin Seeds – $4.25
Garnished with pumpkin seeds, this offering was deceptively small compared to how it’s advertised. It’s a shame because it was better than last year’s rice pudding from Mexico. But, at this tiny size, forget about it.
*NEW* Chocolate Crinkle Cookie – $2.50
Despite the appetizing appearance, this cookie leaves a lot to be desired. We thought it was too crispy on the outside and not chewy enough in the middle, so the texture took away from the flavor.
It has a good heavy chocolate flavor, which was unfortunately ruined by the subpar texture of the cookie. We would not order this cookie again, so we recommend that you save your money as well.
Coquito: Tropical Eggnog – $4.25
Also known as Puerto Rican eggnog, this tropical take on traditional eggnog has flavors of coconut added to the beverage.
M.I.A. Beer Company Tres Reyes Mango Golden (5.2% ABV) – $4.50
Brandon W. on Untappd says the Tres Reyes Mango Golden has notes of “dry, light citrus and mango,” while Crystal K. says “…[definitely] a sour [beer]. Easy to drink.”
Coquito: Tropical Eggnog with a Bacardi Gold Dark Rum ($12/bottle) Floater – $10.00
Tropical eggnog with a Bacardi Gold dark rum floater, this was more along the lines of RumChata than traditional eggnog. If you love that liqueur, then you’ll like this.
