Face Shields Provided and Mandatory for Most Walt Disney World Attractions Cast Members, Refrigerators and Microwaves Returning to Cast Break Rooms

It’s no secret that Cast Members have voiced recently that they are worried about going back to work at Walt Disney World. That displeasure was increased when the Cast Members were told that the work conditions would change upon their return, and not for the better.

Cast Members were informed that they cannot purchase food from staff cafeterias, and refrigerators and microwaves would not be available for use at break rooms for employees who opt to bring their meals to work.

It appears today that Disney has reversed that decision, meaning that the refrigerators and microwaves are safe and Cast Members will continue to be able to use them.

Additionally, almost all attractions Cast Members will be wearing face shields. These shields will be provided to them and are mandatory for Cast Members in these positions.

Recently, the Union president of Local 362 visited the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks to check out the safety conditions upon the reopenings that will be starting on July 11th, starting with the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It appears from the visit everything went smoothly and the president seemed happy with the safety conditions for Cast Members, so hopefully, all of these changes and updates to safety measures mean Cast Members can feel more comfortable as they begin to return to work.

  1. 99% of Cast Members don’t clean the refrigerators or microwaves after they use them. No common courtesy for others. Sad.

  2. I’m visiting Orlando today, and it is 100 degrees. Wearing a facemask alone is unbearable in this heat. They’re going to kill people from heat stroke. Wearing masks inside makes sense, but outside this is doing more harm than good.

  3. Much better, face shields are just as effective at protecting other people from your droplets while being much more welcoming and easier to breathe in. I’m fine if they still require masks for guests, but cast members deserve face shields.

  4. Can you clarify if they will be wearing face shields, or face masks? I know it says shields, but the pictures show masks. Just curious.

  5. Oh well no Disney for us saved for 9 years. And can’t get tickets. Universal here we come. Yes I’m mad at Disney 😠 crushing dreams great job!

  6. Why the face masks AND the shields? It should be either or, not both. Overkill and unnecessary. Like mandatory face masks for guests, let’s see how long this lasts…
