Online Check-In Service Updated to Reflect Housekeeping Changes at Walt Disney World Resorts; “Light Cleaning” To Take Place Every Other Day

The Online Check-In Service on My Disney Experience has been updated to include new features and details on Housekeeping at resorts moving forward.

We recently covered new prompts stating that it was “strongly recommended” for guests to opt for the Online Check-In Service in order to aid in social distancing efforts across the resorts, and while details about resort arrival times, MagicBands, and more remain the same, this new segment on Housekeeping marks a change in how room cleaning is typically preformed.

After entering an email and phone number for contact information, you get the following prompt on email and text message communications:

You then confirm your arrival time and MagicBand Order.

Then comes the section on Housekeeping Service. According to My Disney Experience, rooms will undergo thorough cleaning prior to your arrival. After you’ve checked in, however, service in the form of a “light cleaning” will take place every other day. DVC members staying on points will receive service on the 4th and 8th days of their stay. Guests also have the option to decline this service, however it’s unknown whether the Service-Your-Way program (where guests received gift cards for declining housekeeping) will resume upon the reopening.

Light Cleaning Service includes emptying trash bins, providing fresh bathroom linens, replacing bathroom amenities, and replenishing facial tissues, toilet paper, coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners. (Will beds be made? It’s uncertain, as that would require contact with guests’ personal items.)

Disney still retains the right to enter rooms at any time for maintenance, safety, security or any other purpose, even if the Room Occupied sign is on the floor.

If you opt out of Housekeeping Service and there is more than one room on your reservation, the selection will apply to all rooms on the reservation.

On June 22, select DVC Resorts and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campsite will reopen at Walt Disney World. Ahead of check-in, guests are required to confirm, modify, or cancel their upcoming reservations.

Stay tuned as we cover the reopening Walt Disney World’s many DVC resorts in the coming weeks.
