Theme Park Cast Members Getting Called In For June Start Dates Ahead of July Reopenings at Walt Disney World

Cast Members stationed at the various Walt Disney World theme parks are finally getting called back in to work ahead of the July 11 and July 15 reopenings. This includes Cast Members at newly-debuted attractions like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Batuuians across Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Cast Members throughout Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The established dates for these callbacks are June 21 and June 28, which gives just enough time to prepare Cast Members for July 11 reopenings at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, followed by the July 15 reopening for EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, respectively. If this seems like a bit of an early recall, do keep in mind that they must also prepare for affinity group previews taking place the weeks prior for Annual Passholders, DVC members, Club 33 members, and more.

Cast Members will be trained on new health and safety guidelines, including maintaining social distancing throughout queues, new loading procedures, and the use of hand sanitizer at all attraction entry and exit points.

Cast Members at the various DVC resorts reopening on June 22 have already received their callbacks, and many have already resumed work, which began on June 14. Select full-time Cast Members can also request a voluntary temporary transfer to another role to return to work faster.

The Cast Member recall comes as a relief to many workers after the massive, unprecedented furloughs that took place shortly after the closure of Walt Disney World. We look forward to seeing them making magic again soon!

  1. Relief to some…dread to others who are high-risk or have loved ones who are high-risk. What an awful position to be put in.
