As we near the official reopening of the Walt Disney World theme parks, starting with Cast Member previews tomorrow and Annual Passholder previews starting on Thursday, new details are surfacing regarding various logistical components, such as Relaxation Zones for guests to remove their face masks. With Cast Members already training for the reopenings, we now have an idea of where these Relaxation Zones will be located within the Magic Kingdom.
While face masks will be strictly enforced throughout the park as a whole and within each land, there will be the following mask-free areas located throughout the Magic Kingdom:
- Tomorrowland Terrace (Tomorrowland)
- Golden Oak Outpost (Frontierland)
- Pete’s Silly Sideshow (Fantasyland)
Within these designated spaces, guests can remove their masks and enjoy some downtime while spaced 10 feet apart from other parties inside the relaxation zone.
Do keep in mind that face masks will be strictly enforced everywhere outside of these zones. Guests not wearing the required face mask will be asked to either put one on or leave. Throughout the park, a safety spiel will be played continuously to remind guests to wear masks and wash their hands.
Similar to Universal Orlando Resort’s U-Rest Areas, these Relaxation Zones were initially announced as part of Walt Disney World’s reopening proposal. Relaxation Zones are expected to be available in every park. The only other location we know of so far is within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

I love your sarcasm. Clearly there will be tables separated from each other, but since no one has been allowed into the parks since March it’s hard to get current photos. Stock stuff is what reigns. And people on Twitter are dumb.

There already is NO smoking in the parks

WDW has not allowed smoking inside the parks for a while now. All Smoking Areas are outside the park gates.

Thank goodness. I don’t think they really are going to be able to enforce this as strictly as they plan on. People will be passing out and it will be incredibly miserable for 8 hours in 90 plus with 70 plus humidity. If you are walking along and easily 6 feet away you should be allowed to lower your mask just like what we all do now when out in public. This is going to really detract from the magical experience when children are screaming from heat exhaustion and adults passing out. Look I wear a mask, I have been well before anyone told me to do so, but I am also a realist and these hardcore uptight people that are hung up about is it 6 feet or 5 feet 11 inches need to calm down and relax. The virus does NOT hold up in the heat and humidity and NATURE needs to run its course.
So I hope WDW opens up PLENTY OF THE AREAS BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO NEED THEM!!!
Everybody doesn’t lower their masks. There are plenty of us who are actually responsible and follow rules properly. If a person does not have the constitution to wear a piece of cloth on their face, they are not sturdy enough to be in the parks. A simple cloth mask does not create heat exhaustion. You are ridiculous to say that.
As for your theory about the virus not holding up to heat and humidity—– how do you explain the spiking cases? Clearly the virus is thriving just fine.
If you can’t handle wearing a mask for long periods of time the responsible thing would be to postpone going to the parks.
Oh, grow up. If people pass out from heat exhaustion it will be because it’s Florida in the summer, not because of the masks.
Not sure where you’re getting your information from because we have seen very clearly that the virus DOES hold up in the heat. Case in point… Florida is having one of the highest spikes in cases!
Or you could just stay home if you can’t follow the rules.

You do realize that the virus droplets stay longer in the humid air, this increasing your contamination risk (both catching or giving) when you lower your mask in a public area. I hope that strictly enforce wearing it all places!

You should be allowed to remove them for a picture and then put them back on also. Who wants vacation pics with masks on?
Universal studios does this and it worked great in June when we went. It was low 90’s and 60% humidity and gave a great break. With the social distancing and limited attendance the waits in line were so short that we were in the sun as long so the heat didn’t kill you.
The requirement to wear masks at all is not based on sound data or science. It’s so hot here no bacteria or virus survives long. Also, because of the heat most people are already uncomfortable add a mask to that & you’re asking for heat exhaustion or worse! If people are afraid to go out then they shouldn’t be going to a crowded amusement park and requiring masks, most of which will be made out of cloth & essentially useless at stopping the virus, is dangerous.

This makes me so sad. Yes, we need to do it, but I’m talking about society in general today. This virus needs to go TF away.
Golden Oak Outpost? Isn’t that essentially an un-shaded edge of a busy and fairly narrow walkway? I wonder why not Tortuga Tavern’s seating area. Seems much more like the other two locations. Maybe they just want people to have that multi-million dollar home feeling.
Relaxation zones should be everywhere that a guest can occupy. I’ll be there Thursday exercising my relaxation rights every chance I get. If people are afraid they need to stay home. That fearful loser mentality has done enough damage to this country.
Oh thank goodness! I plan to take at least one break during the day to head back to the resort but I’m glad to know they’re doing this so we can take a break while inside the park.

Wouldn’t a mask-free zone be an isolated pod that’s disinfected after every use? Or… an isolated section where one family of 4 can sit with no one else around in say… 6-12 feet?
