The refurbishment of “it’s a small world” has started to expand at the Magic Kingdom. Just a day after we reported that construction walls had gone up at the attraction’s exit, even more walls have been installed across the facade.

At the exit, the green face of the construction “ceiling” has been added, giving a uniformity to the walls and suggesting that this work may take a while to complete.

Until 2005, this area served as the attraction’s entrance. With Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary a year away, it’s possible that the entrance could be switched back to its original location.

Recently, Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit for graphics installation at the building, which could also mean that the signage will be getting a new look.

Walls have also been installed along the attraction’s facade leading to the current entrance.

Guests are queued next to the walls, leading credence to the theory that this refurbishment may be an attempt to alleviate crowding at the current entryway.

When we passed by, guests were entering near the exit while Cast Members were marking more queue space on the ground. Whether or not this will last for the duration of the refurbishment is yet to be seen.

Back in July, the queue was refurbished. Later on, Plexiglass barriers were added due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
