Both the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have closed at the Magic Kingdom for a scheduled three-month refurbishment. The Riverboat Landing is currently roped off, with an A-frame sign out front notifying guests of the closure.

Back in August, the attraction underwent its annual refurbishment for a week, though it’s uncertain what the scope of the new work will be.

In keeping with the theme of Liberty Square, the sign features some vintage-style artwork of the boat, with the message “The Liberty Belle is currently being refitted. We will receive passengers and freight again soon.”

The entrance to Tom Sawyer Island has a more obvious sign of closure, as a construction wall panel blocks the way.

Another panel can be found on the bridge nearby in Frontierland.

Signage has been covered by a cloth bag, matching the folksy aesthetic of the area, while the exit is roped off with a “Closed” sign with the “s” written backwards.

All entrances and exits to the boat landing have been blocked off in one way or another.

The refurbishment for both attractions is currently scheduled to run at least until January 2nd. With work also planned for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the new year could bring some new surprises to the area in time for the park’s 50th anniversary.
