The refurbishment of Magic Kingdom’s toll plaza is halfway to completion, with approximately four weeks remaining in the project.

There’s a stark contrast between the plaza’s old look (right) and new look (left) as you approach.

Once complete, the toll plaza will have the same color scheme as Cinderella Castle, which was also refurbished this year.

Most of the front of the plaza has now been painted royal blue. The first four letters of “Welcome” have been painted gold with a rose gold finish.

The flags above each letter are also now gold, with rose gold on the “W” and “E” flags so far.

The domed pieces above the “L” and “C” are almost complete as well.

When we last checked in, painting had moved to the marquee. Though not very obvious, it looks like the left triangle sections of the marquee have been painted a darker, richer gold than the rest of the marquee.

The last three letters and some accent areas have been painted with white primer.

The toll booth under the “O” has been half painted.

It looks like there is still some painting to be done on the booth under the “C” as well, but the first three are complete.

The light blue on the symbol in the center of the marquee will probably be painted over, like the rest of the plaza’s light blue coloring.

No lanes were closed today. As the weekend begins, work ends to make way for more guests.

It seems work is moving on pace to finish before the holidays. The refurbishment comes in time for 2021, which will celebrate Magic Kingdom’s—and consequently Walt Disney World’s—50th anniversary. Are you excited to see the plaza’s new look? Let us know in the comments.
