As Walt Disney World prepares for its 50th anniversary next year, the transformation of the Western Way entrance is moving forward at a relatively quick pace.

Two cherry pickers were parked near the entrance arch, which have been used for repainting it to the new royal blue, gold and stone gray design.

As we move closer, we can see that the red brick columns (as seen on the left) are quickly being repainted to the new color scheme. The ones on the right seem nearly complete. Meanwhile, the archway is roughly halfway repainted. When complete, it will be a beautiful royal blue with white lettering. In preparation for that, the Cinderella Castle and “Where Dreams Come True” signage and flags on top have already been removed.

The images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse are expected to remain at the entrances. To keep them safe, we can see Mickey has been covered in what looks like a clear tarp so that he can still greet guests as they enter the property.

All in all, things appear to be moving relatively quickly, which means that soon things will look ready for a birthday celebration!
