UPDATE: Technical Issue Triggered Sudden Dining Reservation Availability; Walt Disney World NOT Increasing Dining Capacity at Table Service Restaurants at This Time

Earlier this morning, guests were thrilled by the sudden surge of dining reservation availability on My Disney Experience. However, the site quickly went down due to technical issues. While the expanded availability was initially attributed to increased capacity, Walt Disney World has released a statement clarifying that they have NOT increased capacity at their table service restaurants.

Reservation availability was suddenly available this morning for nearly all time slots at a variety of hard-to-get locations, like Oga’s Cantina and even Chef Mickey’s.

Phase 3 technically allows theme parks in Florida to return to “normal operations with limited social distancing protocols”. So far, capacity has been increased at popular attractions such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with the addition of plexiglass dividers in ride vehicles and pre-shows. Walt Disney World has stated that capacity limits at the parks itself have not been raised from the current 25% cap.

If you were able to book a dining reservation this morning, Walt Disney World is currently evaluating these reservations to see if table-service locations can accommodate guests within the established capacity limits.

Stay tuned for more updates on the status of dining reservations and more as the phased reopening of Walt Disney World continues.

      • I’ve been told by three CMs after the dining site came back up that the reservations made yesterday morning will be honored. They said the ones made between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm when the site was glitching out are the ones that might be messy with accommodation. No CM has told me about a “case-by-case basis” as far as keeping the newly made reservations, but all of them have said that they’re valid as long as you have the confirmation #.

  1. I spoke with a CM just know when the website came back up, and she said the reservations I made early this morning (4:30 am for Topolino’s Terrace, BOG, and Hollywood and Vine) were indeed valid and confirmed as they showed up on her side as well.

    • They invalidated all of mine. So the valid ones I cancelled due to the new ones are gone and so are the ones I thought I had.
