UPDATE: Walt Disney World Dining Reservations Secured During Technical Glitch to be Cancelled, Guests Impacted to Receive $25 Digital Gift Card

Earlier this week, guests were thrilled by the sudden surge of dining reservation availability on My Disney Experience. However, the site quickly went down due to technical issues.

If you were able to book a dining reservation during that time, Walt Disney World will be cancelling reservations that are overbooked due to social-distancing guidelines. Guests affected will receive a $25 Disney digital gift card for the inconvenience.

While the expanded availability was initially attributed to increased capacity, Walt Disney World issued a statement clarifying that they have NOT increased capacity at their table service restaurants.

  1. my problem is that I moved a Christmas Day reservation from 4 to 6. so if they cancel my 6, does that leave me with nothing???? Not cool.

  2. That stinks because I had a Thanksgiving dinner reservation at 8pm (awfully late for me) and I changed it to a 6pm – which automatically cancelled the later one. Now, if it gets cancelled, no turkey dinner for us at a sit down place. ;( I do feel they could up the gift card amount for holiday reservations that get cancelled.

  3. Looks like this is already taking effect, I just lost 4 reservations that I modified during that period. I moved them from 3 to 4 people at the same time and they just cancelled them. I am on hold to see if there is anything they can do. $25 isn’t going to cut it…

  4. This is awful. Had another reservation for the following day and cancelled it when I got this one for my mother in law’s actual birthday. Now we have nothing.
