Greetings from an unseasonably wet Magic Kingdom! We’re in for a bit of an ugly day as far as the weather’s concerned, though we have two parks worth of updates to bring you regardless of the climate. We’ll be starting off at the Magic Kingdom and then moving along to EPCOT — let’s hop in and see what’s new.

Cruising to the park entrance on the monorail, things were already looking quite gloomy behind the Main Street, U.S.A. train station. The station has been covered in themed scrim since mid-December as it undergoes a refurbishment.

Making our way to Main Street itself, plenty of rain had already fallen and coated the street in water.

Heading into Tomorrowland, the PeopleMover was sadly still closed for its refurbishment.

In a positive sign that the PeopleMover may finally be nearing the end of its closure, though, the Astro Orbiter queue was expanded, eliminating its dependency on the PeopleMover queue which it had been utilizing since summer.

Even the Tomorrowland stage where Buzz Lightyear appears was giving us little reminders of the PeopleMover on its large screen.

Another ongoing, and much more visible, project in Tomorrowland is the construction of TRON Lightcycle / Run. As crews continue to assemble the illuminated canopy on the exterior of the massive structure, it’s believed that little or no work is occurring inside to prepare the attraction for a 2021 opening.

In Fantasyland, a far smaller project recently began to refresh the exterior of Bonjour! Village Gifts, the Beauty and the Beast themed shop near Beast’s castle.

Also in Fantasyland, the Cinderella’s Carriage photo op continues to linger past its initial holiday run, and is now expected to remain through at least Valentine’s Day.

Continuing on to Liberty Square, a new Wishables keychain could be found which featured Phineas, one of the Hitchhiking Ghosts. There isn’t much to the keychain beyond the lighthearted design, but it certainly makes for a fun accessory.

The Rivers of America began to be refilled on Thursday, and a fair amount of progress has been made since. While the waterways being filled are a good sign, the refurbishment of Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat are not scheduled to be completed until over a month from now.

Alongside the water, Chip and Dale are making their usual appearances on the second level of some Frontierland structures despite the weather.

Back on Main Street, as one might expect the usual cavalcades were few and far between today, with Rainy Day Cavalcades being the prime form of entertainment on display today as far as cavalcades are concerned.

pooh-friends-at-main-street-station-1-23-21-7848162

Back where we started, at Main Street station, some of Winnie the Pooh’s friends were making an appearance and interacting with guests on their way in — or, like us — on their way out.

Jumping over to EPCOT, a new mural is in place at Expression Section where guests can participate in some paint-by-number fun to create a large-scale work of art.

festival-of-the-arts-spirit-jersey-mask-1-23-21-8270579

Also a part of Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, a new mask from Spirit Jersey is available which includes the festival’s logo, and Figment’s silhouette, on one side and bright colors across the entirety of the covering.

Getting a little more international, construction of “La Gelateria” continues in the Italy Pavilion, though “assembly” might be a more accurate term given the fragments that the structure arrived to the park in.

At the former Innoventions East building, plenty of work continues in order to rebuild the former Mouse Gear home into the future home of… Mouse Gear.

Conversely, demolition continues at Innoventions West, where the structure which has been half-razed for a year will eventually be completely leveled, though not after being slowly dismantled nearly piece-by-piece.
