PHOTOS: New Monorail Platform Being Installed at Great Ceremonial House in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment to include South Seas patterns and colors as well as Moana-themed rooms. A reimagined entryway will debut just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, and we have a new update on its progress.

Our last update on the resort entrance reported the addition of ten new pillar structures lining the Monorail station and now each pillar is receiving its own platform as the structures settle with concrete.

The base begins with beds of steel beams.

Some pillars are further along and received wood paneling above the beams.

Here is a better angle to see the extent of the pillars lining the monorail tracks.

The second level of framed structuring leaves way for additional concrete to achieve the desired height for the pillars.

Some frames still need to be filled with concrete, but construction has been very active lately so that is sure to happen soon.

Though construction has progressed, much more work will need to be done to get the resort entrance anniversary-ready.

Once complete, the reimagined entryway at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will feature a high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in a thatched style. The Monorail station will have bold new wooden screens covered with geometric patterns in bright, tropical colors that complete an exciting new composition that will greet you when you arrive.
