REVIEW: St. Patrick’s Day Ice Cream Sandwich Returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Specialty treats are all the rage around the holidays at Walt Disney World. With St. Patrick’s day only two weeks away, one of our favorite treats has returned. The St. Patrick’s Day ice cream sandwich is back at Dino-Bite Snacks inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We last reviewed the minty treat in March 2020. Here’s a recap for those who missed last year’s review.

St. Patrick’s Day Ice Cream Sandwich – $6.99

Mint ice cream between double chocolate chip cookies and rolled in shamrock sprinkles

Mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich

Made from two large double chocolate chip cookies with white and milk chocolate chips with hand-scooped mint chocolate chip ice cream in the middle, this ice cream sandwich is rolled in shamrock sprinkles to give it that St. Patrick’s Day flare.

We were immediately impressed with the size of this snack. You can see that it basically fills the plate it was served on. Considering the plate is about as big as our hand spread open, this snack is a good size. It’s also a very thick ice cream sandwich, with a good helping of ice cream.

Once we cut it open (which was a little difficult) and took a bite, we were sold. The cookies were thick and had a good flavor. The two types of chocolate chips were noticeable and delicious. The chips were a little tough, but not crunchy. Without that rigidity, we think this sandwich would be difficult to eat. The mint chocolate chip ice cream was tasty, but was a pretty basic version of this classic flavor.

The flavors were balanced and complemented each other very well. The shamrock sprinkles were a nice festive touch. We think given this treat’s size, it’s great to share — but it’s difficult to cut in half, so be warned.

We can heartily recommend this seasonal ice cream sandwich, so hurry and get one before they’re gone!
