A tapestry-inspired cover has gone up in the “Harry Potter” room of the Universal Studios Store at Universal CityWalk Orlando. The cover is where wands used to be displayed, indicating it is probably hiding something to do with the resort’s rumored new interactive wands and spells.
The cover is at the very back of the room. It juts out from the wall between two sets of display shelves. Wands are still available for purchase but there are significantly fewer than before.
The cover features one “The Lady and the Unicorn” tapestry. These are a series of real 15th century tapestries on display in the Musée de Cluny in Paris. Replicas of the tapestries hang in the Gryffindor common room at Hogwarts in the “Harry Potter” series.
New interactive wands and related experiences are reportedly coming to the existing Wizarding Worlds and then Epic Universe. The new wands may connect to the Universal Orlando Resort app, similar to Villain-Con Minion Blast blasters and Super Nintendo World Power-Up bands, tracking progress and achievements. Old interactive wands would still work with the new spells but wouldn’t connect to the app.

New props and cameras for magic spells have been installed in The Wizarding Worlds of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort. Old interactive wands were 70% off at last year’s garage sale and Universal has offered a free interactive wand with the purchase of a $300 merchandise gift card.
Epic Universe, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, will open next year. As Universal prepares to unveil new interactive wands, they may be gearing up to reveal more details of the new Wizarding World, too.
