Construction walls remain in place at the standby and Lightning Lane entrances, with signs posted notifying guests of the roller coaster’s closure.

In our last update, we reported that crews were on the scaffolding by the water and that fresh concrete had been poured in the area.

We noticed that crews were again at work on the scaffolding, likely continuing to install more fresh concrete to the rockwork. One had what appeared to be a piece of rock in his hand and another was holding a blue bucket.

Other crew members were walking near the top of the scaffolding. Yellow and blue cords from construction tools sitting further up on the rockwork were running down into the scaffolding. A pile of what appears to be fresh cement with a shovel next to it was on the lower level of scaffolding near a crew member.

Turning the corner, we noticed a green tarp filled with rocks, and the “hole” signs were still in place at the entrance to the cavern.

Two crew members were installing a pole, possibly to add more scaffolding to the area.

Crew members were also at work near the back of the mountain. Since our last update, one of the yellow tarps has been moved and is now draped over the scaffolding. We also noticed green construction machinery, likely an air compressor, in the area below the rockwork.

When Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens from its lengthy refurbishment in 2026, it will feature a “little bit of new magic.” A new “Cars”-themed area will also eventually be added to Frontierland, taking over the footprint of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island.
