The Disney Parks Blog shared a look at the team visiting Bakso while they’re here training in Florida. Five of the players — Colt Keith, Matt Vierling, Tyler Holton, Will Vest, and Zach McKinstry — along with their families, visited with the tiger cub and his mom Sohni.

The players also set out on other adventures in the park, including a ride on Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Vest said, “I think it’s kind of cool to have the kids out to see this. For my son, anytime that he sees a tiger — he’s always like, Daddy’s team! So he’s starting to kind of connect the dots there. It was cool to be up-close and see the baby cub walking around.”

Bakso is now almost six months old and continuing to grow. Guests can find Bakso on the Maharajah Jungle Trek, where he first debuted in January of this year. Due to the high demand to see baby Bakso, Disney temporarily added a separate queue to see him which ended in February. Recently, we found out from Cast Members on the Trek why the name of Bakso’s dad is now a closely-guarded secret.

Bakso, whos name is Indonesian for “meatball,” is the first Sumatran tiger cub to be born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in seven years. There are less than 600 Sumatran tigers left in the wild and under managed care. Since 1995, the Disney Conservation Fund has provided support to 15 organizations that work to protect tigers and their habitats.
