Gutted Test Track Queue Visible in New Behind the Scenes Video From EPCOT

In honor of Women in Construction Week, Walt Disney Imagineering shared a video following Project Engineer Carleigh through a day of working on the Test Track reimagining at EPCOT.

Behind the Scenes of Test Track Construction

In the video, embedded below, Carleigh visits various parts of Test Track, both backstage and onstage. In one clip, she walks up to the round silver-paneled building. In the foreground is what appears to be part of the ride’s exterior track surrounded by scaffolding.

The next clip shows Carleigh in the Test Track queue, which has been almost completely stripped of theming. The floor is bare concrete and the walls are plain white. All that really remains are silver curved handrails. Near the end of the video, Carleigh appears to be at the end of the attraction, next to a mesh metal wall around a staircase.

Carleigh describes a project engineer as representing the architecture, design, and engineering teams and working with the construction contractor to make sure they have everything they need.

She begins her day at the office by putting on her personal protective equipment, then meets up with the project team for a morning meeting. She then goes through problems, reviewing technical drawings to come up with solutions. She reports to Principal Architect Bob and writes up proposals to the creative team. After lunch, she meets with the Assistant Construction Manager Addison and Senior Production Designer Dylan to go over material options to create a certain finish the creative team wants in the ride’s finale.

Test Track is scheduled to reopen in the late summer of 2025. This will be the ride’s second major reimagining. It originally opened in 1999, replacing World of Motion. Test Track 2.0 opened in 2012. Test Track 3.0 will take inspiration from World of Motion and the sponsorship will revert back to General Motors from Chevrolet.
