A series of leaked concept art images reveal what could be a first look at some of the scenes or plot points from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ film “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Doomsday Leaked Concept Art
“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to be the fifth Avengers film, relacing the previously announced “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” Set to be released in May of 2026, the film is set to be directed by the Russo brothers, who previously directed “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” A sixth Avengers film following the events of “Doomsday” titled “Avengers: Secret Wars” has been confirmed for May 2027.
What we know of “Doomsday” so far is relatively little. Disney released the image of the film’s logo during the Marvel Studios presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024. At that same panel, Marvel announced the MCU return of Robert Downey Jr. The Iron Man actor is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, though no more details of why the two characters share the same face were revealed. The only other official casting announcements regarding “Doomsday” have included the return of Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell. Marvel specifically confirmed Atwell will be reprising her role as Agent Carter, but were less direct regarding whether Evans will return as Captain America. The cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four film will also return.
Since these announcements, rumors have been circling regarding what will take place in this newest Avengers film. With so little information, most could only guess that the adventure would involve more characters from the MCU Multiverse, perhaps explaining the casting of Downey as Doctor Doom. However, newly leaked concept art of “Avengers: Doomsday” may provide some ideas of the film’s early development.
A Reddit post by user r/marvelstudios includes nine pieces of leaked concept art from “Avengers: Doomsday.” The art was originally shared online by concept artist Mushk Rizvi, a confirmed Marvel Studios concept artist, on an Artstation page, but the images were removed within minutes. The pictures are original concept art from some stage of development for “Avengers: Doomsday.” However, the artist shared no information regarding when the art was created or whether any of the images reflect the film’s current direction. Since films of this nature are often planned years before they are filmed or released, it is entirely possible this concept art no longer reflects Marvel’s current plot for “Doomsday.” Nonetheless, the images provide the first glimpse at some of the plots that have at least been considered.
The first leaked concept art image shows a masked Doctor Doom sitting on a medieval-style throne. Unlike the green outfit used for the Doctor Doom reveal at Comic-Con, the cloak and armor in this image are mostly white and silver.
The second image again shows Doctor Doom in what appears to be a medieval, European-style throne room. He sits on a dais wearing a white cloak, looking down at a male prisoner wearing armor. Doctor Doom looks more futuristic than his surroundings, leading to some speculation that he has either traveled through time or to a different universe.
A woman and child stand beside him, possibly variants of Sue Storm and Franklin Richards (or perhaps Franklin von Doom). Franklin, usually the child of Sue Storm and Reed Richards, is rumored to debut in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”
Moving to more modern-looking images, the third piece of concept art shows Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, lounging on a couch with his arm around the shoulder of White Vision. White Vision last appeared in the finale episode of the Disney+ series “WandaVision” and has not been seen since. In this image, Vision appears to be scrolling channels on a TV next to several opened drink bottles and snacks.
The concept art jumps location again, now moving back to what looks like a medieval-style village. The art shows Hulk wearing a period-appropriate cloak next to a similarly dressed She-Hulk. The two of them talk to another Hulk character (possibly Skaar) who has an arrow stuck into his side. Several more of the citizens standing in the background appear to have green skin and Hulk-style features.
In the next image, Wong is shown leading a gathering of the Young Avengers (and Star-Lord). Clearly pictured around the table are Cassie Lang, Wiccan, Kate Bishop, and Ms. Marvel. While difficult to determine, some fans are guessing that the blonde character next to Wiccan is supposed to be Speed. Speed is one of the Maximoff twins who was teased at the end of “Agatha All Along” but never fully revealed.
The next image shows a character who fans believe to be a variant of Black Panther. The character stands in front of the iconic Panther-shaped rockwork in Wakanda and is wearing an outfit similar to Black Panther’s armor. Some fans are speculating this to be an older version of T’Challa and Nakia’s son Toussaint (Prince T’Challa II).
The following image is a close replica of the above Black Panther art, but this piece has the character standing in the full Black Panther suit. The character is now masked instead of showing his face. The character is also holding a long curved sword in this image, while his hand in the previous image is empty.
This next image is only a black-and-white sketch, so it is difficult to see many details. The art shows a character wearing robes sitting in what looks like a prison filled with water. Their hands are chained above their head and hanging from the ceiling.
The final image is a horizontal compilation of several concept art pieces. Two of the images are the same concept art seen previously, but the third image at the bottom is new. The sketch appears to show the same scene of Doctor Doom in a throne room from a different angle. Doctor Doom is standing instead of sitting on a throne, looking down towards a male prisoner. A man wearing a neck ruff and cloak stands nearby, with more European-medieval characters in the distance.
