With the closure of “It’s Tough to be a Bug!” and the impending closure of MuppetVision 3D, online resellers are already posting listings for 3D glasses taken from both attractions.
Resellers Posting 3D Glasses
While unfortunate, it has become a somewhat common occurrence for resellers looking to capitalize on the closure of a Disney attraction to begin selling items taken from the parks. With MuppetVision 3D in Disney’s Hollywood Studios set to close on June 7, and “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!” — which performed for the last time on March 16 in Disney’s Animal Kingdom — now closed, both attractions are now garnering the attention of resellers.
The glasses for “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!” only reappeared at the attraction on March 16 for the show’s final day of operation. These black, antennae-adorned glasses were used for the show until early February when they were replaced by the same purple 3D glasses used for MuppetVision 3D. Now, resellers are posting lots of both glasses together for a set, with the average prices running from $60 to nearly $100. The listing above has the two pairs of 3D glasses listed at $99. Fifteen people are watching the item and one has already been sold, meaning that buyers are also interested in the glasses.
Following the last showing of “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!,” resellers have begun listing individual “bug-eye” 3D glasses for sale, as well. This listing is a bit more reasonable, with a starting bid of $0.99. The glasses received a starting bid within 7 minutes of being listed. Less than an hour after posting, the bid was up to $15.51 with several bidders contributing.
Additional resellers are also posting individual glasses from MuppetVision 3D, even though the attraction is still operating at Walt Disney World. Many of the sellers have more than one pair of glasses available for purchase.
