Why Disney’s Animal Kingdom Cast Members Can’t Tell You the Name of Baby Tiger’s Dad

While Walt Disney World fans are familiar with the name of Bakso, the tiger cub at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the name of his dad is now a closely guarded secret.

Cast Members used to tell guests the name of Bakso’s dad, but the intelligent tiger learned what the word meant. He started to respond when guests called his name. This was a problem because the tiger expected a reward and didn’t receive one, which could lead to anger issues. As such, the keepers will no longer tell guests his name.

Thankfully, Bakso and mom Sohni don’t care about their names, so there are no issues there. Bakso is the first Sumatran tiger cub born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in seven years and debuted on the Maharajah Jungle Trek in late January. Demand to see the baby tiger was so high that Disney temporarily added a separate queue just to see him.
