REVIEW: Turn Your Hands Blue with the Little Mermaid Cookie Pie at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has debuted a new dessert called the Little Mermaid Cookie Pie that is guaranteed to turn your hands blue.

We found the Little Mermaid Cookie Pie at Beach Club Marketplace, which is located, unsurprisingly, at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

As with most of the items at the Beach Club Marketplace, the cookie pie comes premade and is wrapped in plastic when you purchase it. The plastic is clear, so you can see the bright teal color of the cookie inside, and is tied with a bright yellow bow.

The cookie pie is covered in chocolate that is dyed a light teal color. Extra chocolate stripes on the bottom half represent waves, which are decorated with some blue and white sprinkles. There is also a chocolate purple shell and pink starfish placed on the top. While the dinglehopper, or fork, placed in the top looks like a decoration, it is actually made of plastic and is not intended to be edible.

First things first, we highly recommend getting a plate from a Cast Member when you buy this cookie, because the chocolate outer coating immediately melts when coming into contact with the summer heat. Our reporter had to go wash her hands between when she got the pie out of the package and actually ate it for our review, because the chocolate made a big mess. Ironically, she ended up appreciating that the fork was actually plastic because it made the snack easier to eat without using her fingers.

Moving on to the actual texture, we liked that this is very gooey and chewy. It reminded us of an underbaked cookie, and we didn’t quite understand why they marketed it like a pie when it has no pie flavors. The cookie itself has a graham cracker flavor with a hint of cinnamon, and the chocolate over the top is extremely sweet. The overall combination reminded us more of a s’mores cookie without the smokiness.

Overall, this was okay but not excellent. We wish this wasn’t advertised as a pie, because the description is a little misleading for what you get. We enjoyed most of the s’mores-style flavors, though the lack of the fire-roasted smokiness meant the chocolate was extremely sweet and a bit overpowering. On the other hand, we have to give it a point for looking very cute. Definitely try eating it using the fork, unless you want to have blue hands.
